Northern Ireland Weather

A FLASH AMBER warning for Heavy Snow & Thunderstorms has been issued for Northern Ireland.

Heavy snow showers are affecting many areas and is leading to accumulations of 5 - 10 cm. This may cause some difficult driving conditions especially over higher level routes.

Blizzard conditions are also likely due to high wind gusts.

Heavy Hail & Thunderstorms are affecting some areas, localised interruptions to power supplies are possible.

There looks to be about 1-2cm snow down outside with more to come overnight. We're doing well this year and it's good to hear other parts of Ireland are getting the white stuff as well.

a few sleet showers earlier, with some hail just after dark... Nothing settled.

Walked the dogs just before midnight, my Jebus, that wind would cut you in two!!! Even the dogs wanted to go home! A few showers heading my way now looking at the radar... Lets see what happens! Could be a long night!

Was nothing here literally 20 minutes ago and since 00:40 it has turned white. 13 minutes and everything covered. Classic. And who says Westerlies can't deliver? lol

Got a one or two moderate snow showers here in the last while however by the time the showers reach my location they seem to have lost most of their intensity. Temp 0.8c

Well, just went out to let the cat in (poor bugger) and I have 1-2cm already and still coming down. Only been snowing (first of the spell) for 25 minutes.

Seems like the ground has frozen beneath it too. First batch just slowing now but looks like more on the way through the night.

Just a dusting so far here in north Meath from a brief but heavy snow shower around 11pm. Hopefully see allot more by morning. I think allot of areas are going to do very well from this, looking at the infra red satellites you can see all the showers stacked in the Atlantic and all they have to do is keep charging eastwards. Hope you all wake up to a dumpfestshok.gif .....yahoo.gif

Know what you mean Watcher, certainly beats the hell out of a slack easterly in terms of precip. Was nothing worse than watching the streamers of 2010 dissipate about 10/20 miles east of my location.

Correction...My worst weather watch day was the super convecto day back in the summer, forget the date but you all know the one. Oldcastle certainly had the storm shield up that day!!!! Looking at the 24hr lightning radar I was slap bang in the centre between the two thick bands of X's (strikes). My girlfriend of the time was very sick that day and I had to stick around to look after her so didn't get to chase.mad.gif Relationship didn't last long after that lol.
