Still no weather warnings on the met office site, I would imagine they will be going up today or early tomorrow for this weekends snow

Wouldn't warnings, at this stage, make the Met seem extraordinarily 'flaky'?blush.png biggrin.png

Has anyone seen on sat24 theres a swirl of cloud out in the north sea thats got the shape of a developing area of low pressure!!anybody think it could be an unexpected polar low developing in the frigid 850s?

edit:and theres a batch of heavier showers coming into the north of east anglia from the north sea according to raintoday!

I guess if you are concerned over a few cm's of light snow, then at the very most it would warrant a provisional 'watch' this afternoon. I guess they are still crunching numbers, doing charts and tweaking them to see what might occur?

Doubt a polar low as it rare as hens teeth & usually comes from a unstable northerly. I've never seen a polar low from a easterly.

I'm not sure we need a weather warning for 2cm of snow to be honest. Certainly nothing other than light flurries being shown on the models. No need for a warning whatsoever

I thought I saw something floating in the breeze earlier but I got a second opinion and we agreed it was dust !

Maybe a warning would be relevant for any snow turning to ice? And you know what the trains are like, they seem to stop running with any very minor snow fall! I'm still hoping for bucket loads to land in Kent and if it doesn't, it's been fun building up to it :)

Will be in the garden next to the security light tonight.. hoping if I squint and use the wall to block the glare I might see a flurry !

That presumes that enough snow will fall to inhibit progress or cause other disruption which is currently not showing on any model, forecast, data set, opinion or guesstimate....

Yes, but we're going to see at least a foot of it remember.......

How weird - I'm in Strood and my app says light snow where yours says heavy

There was definitely some 'lumpiness' out over the North Sea, earlier. So I'll let ya'll know how the 'pounding' goes!good.gif

Given most of the south east is going to have lying snow of varying depths and only hardcore fans read the models a lot of people will be caught unawares

Surely COBRA must be meeting today?

Mine says Strood has heavy snow too...... Ok that's weird!

I've always found a strait northeasterly is more beneficial from East of Rochester-Gillingham eastwards and down to Maidstone area wind flow off the sea but a more east to North East element and Strood gravesend even up to South East London benefit more from the white stuff
