Seems like the new MO warning is sinking things further south. Hopefully that continues, and only the English Channel gets a top up.

Evening all

it has been raining pretty solidly all day here in North Pembrokeshire, some of it has been really heavy as well resulting in a leak from one of the skylights on the old house.  Some building work needed as the whole frame seems to have rotted.  At least it is on the north facing side of the house and there's no sign of any northerly gales for a while!

Loads of standing water on the little country lanes.  We got swamped in our car as another car came quickly through one particular pool.  All sorts of bleepers started going off and I thought maybe it was an alarm for water in the engine, which would have been horribly expensive.  After a few minutes of anxious driving it dawned on me - the wave of water had set off the parking sensors!

Time for a local Welsh cider I think...

AS

Edit: shipping forecast for Lundy (we are Irish Sea here, but I'm thinking about the Severn bridge tomorrow and whether they will close them both (although I think in shipping forecast lingo 'later' means 24 hours, no doubt some of you more knowledgeable folk can correct me!)

Lundy
Gale warnings - Issued: 0938 UTC Fri 01 Nov

Southwesterly severe gale force 9 expected later

Shipping Forecast - Issued: 1625 UTC Fri 01 Nov Wind Cyclonic 5 or 6, becoming southwest 7 to severe gale 9, perhaps storm 10 later. Sea State Very rough becoming high. Weather Rain or showers. Visibility Good, occasionally poor.

For all those wondering about my Little Chefs Olympic breakfast from a few pages ago, I can honestly say it was very nice and filling.

Wanted to put something about the weather, but think I slept all the way home, sorry.

I haven't stopped thinking about your Olympic Breakfast all day. That's what happens when you only have an apple and banana for breakfast. Only speaking for my location, but no weather happened here today. It was just grey..... Next time CC could you post a picture of it?

Didn't manage to eat all of my breakfast. For those who worry about my health its only the 2nd Olympic breakfast I had in the last 5 years. Just to add another "blast from the past" how about the the jubilee pancake my all time favourite.

I concur with LeighD their was no weather on my journey home, note the snoring heard down the M11 was not me.

This might put you off your breakfast, tea and dinner, late night porn from my garden - graphic slug sex! Posted Image - in terms of making it weather related, I guess they aren't expecting cold weather anytime soon as they will both no doubt be off to lay eggs in few days.  Don't have nightmares!Posted Image

Nasty looking stuff on the South Coast now on the radar; it seems like very heavy rain. I expected it here later, but forecasts are showing it mostly staying south now.

Slugs might be floating later...

Looks as though could get very windy at times this wkend and heavy rain, maybe thundery elements. Not expecting anything wind wise as severe as Monday's big storm, must say alot of tree and fence damage I have seen around Staines-Upon-Thames and Stanwell and also Cobham from the storm.

Tracks and intensity of the coming Alantic lows can change quickly please keep check on this.

Cheers Steve, though not what I was hoping to hear given our timings tomorrow.

all the rain just skidding past here  -- not complaining, as it looks some places are getting soaked

From my experience the "Old" bridge gets closed quite a lot, the new bridge seems to fare much better (I think it has much higher sides that deflect the wind).  At least there's no rugby in Cardiff tomorrow, otherwise would be a nightmare on the M4

Yes NNW, in all the many years coming here (20+ for me, and since she was a babe in arms for my wife) we have had only 1 bridge closure and that was the old bridge years back. Anyway, if the bridges were to be shut we would just have to stay here. I think I would quickly get over the disappointment !
