Snow warning now gone lol

Ice warning still in place.

I think its a confidence issue with warnings.  Forecasters seem to be having problems with this up coming precipitation event whether it will be rain, sleet or snow.

According to the BBC forecast we (west/mid Ulster) should experience precipitation as snow tonight.

^^ Sums up my winters since 2010… If that is completely accurate, I will miss out by about 5 miles!!!! :-(

Needless to say, if it was raining proverbial soup, I'd get a proverbial fork!!!

The front moving in from the west is readly turning to snow going by the net weather radar.  Its moving extremely slowly so rate of precipitation depending, could give some accumlations.

The problem is, its going to slow and allowing the relatively milder air to mix in as it moves East. I can't see much in the way of accumulation away from higher ground.

After this weeks cold, it is back to zonal conditions for at least a couple of weeks.

A chilly start here with a minimum of -2.2C, nowhere near as cold as some places. It's been cloudy all day so far. The rain/sleet/snow should arrive in the next few hours.

Sperrin, the warning is for ice, not snow. Weegaz, I was never confident the precipitation would even make it this far East, never mind whether it would be rain, sleet or snow.

I don't think it was predicted to head this direction until after 11pm lads, that said I wouldn't assume there to be much precipitation in it. I think Sperrin was highlighting the part of the meto warning that refered of up to 5cm of snow in parts. It's still contained in the ice warning Mountain

The snow stopped soon after my last post, looks like the main front is about 30 mins away. Still completely overcast with the temperature hovering around 1.4C.

Moderate sleet now falling, though more rain than snow in the mix. Ah well, no battleground snow event here.
