It's been a poor month yes but lots of variation from place to place. I have known far wetter Summer months in Conors lifetime, far duller and even cooler ones so not diabolical here by any means.

Last August to be as poor as this one here was August 1986 with 24 days of recorded rain and 20c reached just twice.

http://www.tutiempo.net/en/Climate/Shawbury/08-1986/34140.htm

Warmest day in 18 days today with a high of 19.0c, dull and grey now but warmer feel at least and 20c+ on the cards tomorrow for the first time since Sat 9th.

Warmest day this August?? I know I'm on the south coast but that does seem weird.

I've just checked and you are right!

I inadvertently looked at the average temperatures, the actual highest recorded temperature for August is 24.8C recorded on the 8th.

Generally overcast and dull all day, with some drizzle and then light-moderate rain. Now the drizzle monster has well and truly set in with a soaking drizzle and fine rain falling at intensity of 4.4mm/hr just now.

One of the worst days this month for summery weather/outdoor activities although the morning-early afternoon just had a bit of drizzle (Monday was wet most of the day but with some sunshine later).

Yesterday was quite nice mainly and reached 20.4c.

I'd say a couple recent Augusts were worse than this one here, such as August 2008.

It's sunny! Pretty warm too at 18.2C. Will be interesting to see what comes of the trough moving through during the afternoon. I have a feeling it might just scrape areas south of Bristol with the main concentration being further north.

An interesting frontal but conversely mostly fine day with the early Warm Front cloud clearing to a hazily sunny and warm morning. The wind freshened towards midday and the Cold Front whizzed through giving low cloud and patchy drizzle before it too cleared away to a sunny, warm afternoon and now clear evening.
