Things beginning to look interesting next week as the plume is still being shown on the models, ECM looks crazy with the 20c iso right up into N England!! It's a case of watch and wait to see if the theme gets continued! Had one fine day here this week which was Tuesday other than that it's been cloudy with some light rain on and off, not too cool though.

In winter it would be a Northerly toppler, what would you call it in

Summer"a Spanish plume 2 dayer"this morning's outlook looks

To me like temperatures will peak between Wed_Fri before fresher

Air comes in from the west, along with thundery downpours

A mixture of sun and cloud today, predominately sun towards the middle of the day and a light shower at around 14:50.

Max temp was 23.3°C making it the warmest day of the year, beating the previous record of 23.1°C recorded on 11th June. It has felt very oppressive today in the high humidity, with the southerly wind, blowing mainly offshore, helping to maximise the temperatures.

Looking hot and steamy next week - not my most favourite type of weather if the humidity is high, but if it can send us an electrical storm or two before it scuttles away then all will be forgiven.

Overnight min 10.9C, morning sunny until the inevitable infill. Come mid-afternoon there were some sunny intervals.  Max temp I recorded under cloud 24C, currently 21.4C under Sc. Little or no breeze F0-1, dry all day.

For the first time in what seems like months, not a breath of wind and although at 18c it's not exactly tropical, the cloud and humidity makes it feel quite oppressive.

I just hope that next weeks warmer spell includes sun and some drier air.

Possibly the coldest part of England today thanks to a dank drizzly messy mix and low cloud, it hasn't felt particularly humid or sticky with maxes in the 15-16 degree range. We never do well under a SW drift. Preety miserable.

Next week holds promise for our first proper warmth of the season, but like a northerly toppler, its fragile synoptical set up for anything sustained. I'm keeping my feet on the ground, and suspect mid 20's will be our high, but chance of creeping into the high 20's. 30's reserved for SE quarter of the country and they can have it, because it will be a very humid warmth.. the worse kind.

NAVGEM has totally lost the plot this morning predicting

Temperature of 39c (I kid you not) for northern England

With The Norfolk coast been the hot spot (No pun intended)

at 44c Yes 44c if this was correct I think the government would

Be calling a emergency meeting, rest assure those kind of

Temperatures would cause fatalities, fingers crossed this model

has got a serious case of heat stroke.oh bt the way 39c equates to

uppers of 27.2c

Those figures are just what the temperatures will feel like to us. They are forecasted to be 30-33C up here in the NW, but it could feel more like the upper thirties, low forties.

I would be very interested to know from other members to know

What extreme temperature s they have witnessed over the

Years hottest/coldest

Mine would be

Hottest Cyprus beginning of August 2000 43c

Coldest France January 2007 -22c (Overnight temperature)

Start a thread about it in the weather discussion. That's quite a good question that.

Anyway, quite a cloudy day today after a mild night. Temperature is 17C.

Another poor day here with the cloud and on-off drizzly rain refusing to pack it's bags and sod off elsewhere.

Quite muggy as well which, although an improvement from wet and cold is still far from pleasant.

Hopefully tomorrow's promise of a half decent summers day will be correct before a return to damp conditions on Sunday.

Then it's a case of wait and see and hope that we share in the upcoming hot spell.

I'm wondering if there's any poor quantity imported from the continent next week. That would effect our breathing during the heatwave which is isn't good for people with asthma.

If it's from a SE source then the air quality could be quite poor due to the industrial pollution picked up from the near continent.

A straight southerly may be a bit clearer but I still think that bright sunshine may be at a premium.

Some showers rattling through from time to time. It hasn't been cold however, it's been quite muggy and humid luckily.

After a cloudy miserable day, at long last something approaching a brighter spell has arrived.

Better late than never but with todays temperatures in Kent peaking in the high 20's it looks like we've yet again drawn the booby prize in the weather raffle.

hard to know what will happen next week, it looks like getting hot.. surprisingly the models are suggesting the coast will largely miss out on the heat, which seems counter intuitive given the offshore breeze. I can only suspect therefore is that the coniditions allow for significant sea breeze conditions around the coast in this potential scenario.

Clear at midnight with an overnight min of 14.3C day dawned cloudy then overcast all morning, a bright(ish) spell over lunch then quite gloomy around 3pm when light rain started. By 5pm a burst of moderate rain before a clearance from the west.  Highest temp was 21C just before the rain arrived.  Currently clear and temp 15.4C.  Quite breezy at times, a good F2-3, but currently light air F1.
