Congrats to those who got up at the crack off dawn today and have already completed their outdoor activities, because weatherwise it's going downhill fast from now.

Its been a grim day so far here, relentness rain with sudden heavy pulses and temps hovering around a chilly 6 degrees. Thankfully the wind isn't too strong, and alas in the past half hour or so we have seen a clearance and even a hint of blue sky.. The higher fells have a white coating, roughly about 600m mark.

We are not far off looking at a possible widespread snow event tomorrow and into Monday for the far north of England, if the low pressure could sink another 150 miles south or so.. we shall see.. The fells are likely to get a good covering in the next couple of days.  Pity the mild air is going to return middle of next week..

After a few overnight showers, it was dry here until about 11 o'clock but it's been pretty much constant heavy rain since although it has practically stopped at the moment.

5.5c and a gusty breeze so feeling thoroughly miserable outside.

Yeah just watched the BBC forecast and a few very wet days coming up.

It's hammering it down here now and the wind is lashing it against the conservatory windows..

Although fine at the moment, the wind is really started to pick up here now.

Temperature is 7c so we are in that annoying no - mans line of too warm for the snow affecting areas of Scotland but hardly mild enough to feel comfortable when out and about.

On the plus side though, a good reason to not go Christmas shopping.

It is very windy here and its not even reached its peak yet. No rain yet just cloudy. Last night it was chucking it down with very heavy rain and some squally winds with it.

Just driven up the M66 and the wind is really quite strong now.

At lest the rain has stopped before the next batch arrives.

Never mind, at least it's mild......no it's not it's cold but not quite low enough for snow, just cold rain.

Mate who is up high in the Furness fells reckons he's getting gusts of 80 mph !!!

At that speed it'll not be long before he's back on lower ground.

I've only once been on the high fells when I couldn't stand up and we crawled for nearly an hour until we were sheltered enough to stand.

Back down here, two certain signs of strong winds, the local wind farms have all closed down so we're back relying on fossil fuels and some clown has decided that it's a good time to burn cut down conifers.
