It’s a scorcher for sure, high of 29c (28.5c if I’m being conservative 🤔) but Staxton station confirms it at 29c. A slight but inconsistent breeze. Looks like it’s going to stay warmer for longer this evening too. Nothing I can do but embrace it I’m afraid 🫠⛱.

Even with a strong sea breeze we still hit 28.9C. Thick fog this morning too so it was a cool start with a low of 11.8C.

Pretty impressive that considering you had fog as well. Now a cold 27C here.

The warmth has remained later into this evening than yesterday and harvest is still carrying on in ernest tonight, still thankfully nothing like July 18/19th  night time heat and cooling down enough for a good kip, hopefully!

Woken to another 'roke'  ..   windows wide open for a lovely cool down
ahead of the days heat.
Just saw on the BBC news that Yorkshire Water are imposing a hosepipe ban
to start in a fortnights time.

Yes we also had sea fog this morning, daily 10 mile bike ride moved from lunchtime to 5.45am today due to the heat, there were some quite thick patches. It was very still, and sun was just getting above the horizon. I had to use my bright rear light. Really not enjoying this summer, but that moan needs to go in the heat haters thread.

Yorkshire will be placed in its first hosepipe ban in 27 years on August 26th. Anyone caught using a hosepipe faces a fine of up to £1,000.

Today is actually cooler than yesterday despite the temperature rising very rapidly. Will it make a new record?

Yet another clear blue sky day in Bridlington with strong sunshine.

Just becoming a normal thing this summer - although of course the clouds and possibly some heavy showers will be back next week.

Lovely easterly breeze once again keeping the coast much cooler than inland. Also sea mist and low cloud been a feature at night recently.

Bridlington was the main news feature on Look North 6.30pm programme last night. Looks like it will be gridlocked over the weekend as thousands head to the coast.

Have a great weekend everyone ☀️

I'm surprised East Yorks isn't included in the declaration of official drought ?
We look as parched as the other areas which are included .. and we have the hosepipe ban
to come in a fortnights time.

I think they might have over done it with today's predicted temperatures, 28.5c in my garden, doesn't feel that hot sat in shade with a bit of a breeze.

Looks like it peaked at 31.3C .2C lower than yesterday. The average start to the day no doubt the reason why it failed to break the record.

Temperature dropping rapidly strong smell of smoke probably somebodies wood burner polluting the air. Time those were banned as well.

Out driving 🚙 today & car temps ranged between 26C late morning here & reaching 30C in Lincs across lunchtime. Garden thermometer read 28C on my return which was actually a degree out from the Staxton station, which is a first - that stated a touch under 27C at 3pm.
Have to say, think the whole nation think this is the last weekend of summer and all decided to head to our coast for a last ditch holiday - never seen traffic like it! Mind you, the traction engine🚂 at Driff did nothing to endear itself 🙄 to the holiday traffic 🤭🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙🛻
