GFS 12z is burying most of the UK in snow next Monday. Insane run!❄️☃️

similar set up towards the south east as the GFS. So probably an area of snow moving out of the continent into southern and east parts.

With a slider dessert for the southwest.

Subtle differences with upstream and downstream flows and we get the cold in quicker, and this is essential as the rebounding of the low is similar on the gfs 06z and 12z so snow rather than rain on the 12z:

06z>1976018029_gfseu-0-156(1).thumb.png.a767eb07f3f7cb3a67c4c4e5bc0b475a.png12z>1567345794_ink(9).thumb.png.5eef9c3c029006f0cc6e0ec30b02780c.png

Helped by the low disrupting better on the jet to our west. Very fine margins! UKMO agrees so great, now ecm needs to move closer to this solution?

Had some snow (the fat wet stuff) falling mixed in with rain in the last cold spell where I am (Uckfield). We were just a little too far south, I heard not far north of us got a decent covering.

Don’t do it to yourself folks!  Good things never seem to come to us these days.
There’s no way we’d get lucky and have a run like that verify for the south east!

UKMO still pretty good.

Many differences again. The Atlantic, the Arctic High, the American trough. Laughable actually.
What will happen after 144h still very much unclear.

But: Upgrades for cold an snow, for at least the weekend!

GFS is very snowy, UKMO has snow too.

As great as the output has been with amazing charts, the best thing for me is both gfs and Ukmo deal with low in a favourable way.

Eventually, it will happen. Hoping it's this time, but still plenty of time for it to go wrong!

That would deliver the biggest snowfall since Feb 1991 down here. We only got a couple of inches in 2010 and from the 2018 episode. Looks too good to be true. Still very high risk with the milder air very close to the SE so time will tell. I’ve seen worse at days 5 and 6 though

was thinking as the low sinks with much colder air north of it and warmer air to the south- would the temp gradient between the two cause this low to develop more ?
