Well the low pressure might be East of the models, but the rain isn't. Looks like the band is heading to Northwest England and Wales, needs to start tilting SE.

Its the precipitation that is due to arrive in the Midlands around 5am which will benefit from the low further east, looks quite a narrow but intense band

Think this is going to miss Brum in terms of snowfall

It’s all about heights atm but don’t be surprised as even at this stage things can change with precipitation, methinks Birmingham is in a prime spot ❄️

Aye. It’s that band that will be undercut by colder air on its western edge.

Wet snow here and absolutely howling wind. It must be horrendous in the red warning areas if it’s this stormy under the yellow warning

Serious gales out there tonight unusual direction for severe gales.

It is snowing here but waaay too much wind friction warming the air up...

Lights are flickering quite abit.

XC is an hour behind of course..

Power has just gone off, flickered and come back on for now. Not seen sustained wind like this since 2013-14 winter, though those 15 minutes of mayhem in Nov 2016 will always rule when it comes to causing damage round here.

Still the rain is only light to moderate (albeit horizontal) and not seen any sleet or snow.

Looking at the radar watching it all sail past to the west makes me think I should not stay up lamppost watching for this one..

Not mega windy yet although relatives in notts say it's really windy there.

When does this storm start . I've had stronger winds when the Mother in Law has sprouts. As for Snow its still 3c in Stoke. We really must be the most boring part of the UK for Weather events lol

Ha! I just looked at the radar to see if we had anything approaching (just wet and windy here presently) and saw the big orange blob over Stoke-on-Trent and thought Mattstoke will be in his element!

The Snow-on-Trent magnet proves forecasts and forecasters wrong, yet again! I was confident we’d see something. Forecasts dismissed it here. They never seem to learn!

It’s not like this is just a little bit of snow. It is hammering it down!

Looks like you’ve got a load more on the way too. Radar shows you under the firing line for the next couple of hours

And yet still no warning and the automated forecasts show sleet.

I think Stokies know well how the weather works around here. Everyone at work yesterday was talking about the snow that was coming tonight despite the lack of warnings or forecasts.

Guess what boys and girls... IT'S SNOWINGGGG Had nothing but cold, heavy rain since about 9pm but after a brief drier patch in the radar, a heavy line of PPN has just hit us and it's snowing heavily! I'm guessing the intensity of this band has brought the temps down, just enough to bring some fat flakes

I am stuck in what can be best described as close to a Hurricane as we get in this country never experienced anything like this what a time to be on the coast winds gusting between 80-90mph absolute  madness.

Missing the first snow of the season too

Where are you? Some of the stories from the coast sound scary!
