Like yesterday we have had wall to wall sunshine herewith just a wisp of cloud in sight to the South.Temp is 7.5C but it feels much warmer with just a light breeze and bright sunshine.  Min was 5.5C.

I suppose it's a bit different from the usual as the afternoon has deteriorated from Aberdeenshire Permagloom to that rarer beast, Aberdeenshire Permafog.

Calm conditions, max of 8.2c.

Roll on a pattern change, or whatever they call it on that other thread.

Weird orange sky now (no sun still grey) really strange

I noticed this on Wednesday as well. Wondered what was going on. Any takers?

Yes I’m reminded of winters gone by when high pressure would float nearby but never in any useful position. I try to take an ‘all weather is interesting’ approach but that’s a challenge with the current set up.

We did see some sun today so that was welcome. Temperature reached 10c at Leuchars.

Well it wasn't difficult to do this, but a cooler start to the day at 1C and just the lightest sheen of frost on the grass. Might even get to see the sun today for a bonus if the forecast is correct, and with it being the weekend I could top up on vitamin D.

Where's the snaw..???

I've not been interested in the weather one bit so far this winter (or extended Autumn if you like) what dreary mild damp pish we are stuck in...its horrible.

The only pictures I have to share of any white stuff are from late November and early December.

I'm assuming that your mothers also told you that if you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing. Well, I'm saying nothing.

No, hang on, there was a patch of blue sky on Monday. Briefly.

Another very dreich day here too only positive is that its not raining and newly cleared drains have dried out all the wet patches in the fields.

It was Grey and meh in Falkirk yesterday, it was also my birthday, so my birthday treat was a stomp up the west highland way from Tyndrum (last time we went south from Tyndrum so this time we went north). Weather was weird, stopped at Loch lubnaig for a coffee (and to escape from a queue held up by a horribly slow artic lugging huge metal beams). It was frankly beautiful at Loch Lubnaig, blue sky, a few strategically placed clouds, glorious. Drove further north and found ourselves back in the grey, dank meh weather. Still had a fabulous walk, love the highlands whatever the weather and that's a wee bit more of the WHW ticked off.

Yes its quite incredible...the 50MT Russian Tsar Hydrogen Bomb from 1961 blasted a shockwave three times around the world...that must have been scary.

It’s amazing here! There’s sun! And clear blue sky!

Can’t remember last time I saw that.

I appear to have woken up on a different planet; one with blue sky in every direction and a sun that casts golden illuminations upon the land. I rather like it.

High temperature so far today was 6.4⁰C at 05:23 sinking to a low of 1.8⁰C by 09:42 and now back up to 5.3⁰C, humidity is 85%, wind is 0 to 4mph northwesterly with a maximum gust of 7mph at 04:49, pressure is 1025.1hPa rising swiftly, there’s been 0.2mm of rain today and 2.0mm in the last 24 hours, the sky is completely clear of clouds and the dew point is a 3⁰C.

A brightish afternoon at 7c. Ground drying up knew it was worth cleaning out those drains at Xmas. First snowdrops are out too.

Does anyone know where we are in terms of average rainfall totals for this winter? The reservoirs in Strathclyde were unusually low over the summer and early autumn and rainfall so far seems average at best, if there's a dry spring and summer there could be some problems...
