Ooof, night time minima not as cool as I anticipated, still, I prefer the 16° rather than 20°/21° during the early hours.  Both fans will be on full blast in the bedroom though.

Yes, not quite as extreme as the minimums in the previous heatwave, but a longer period for warmth to build up. My fans will also be in overdrive! On the plus side, it will be nice to sit out with a few ice cold beers in the evenings next weekend, once the sun has dipped.

Alright,  own up,  Whose stolen the clouds.

Not seen any for over 36 hours!

Anyway, looks good for the full week until our departure next Saturday.  Could be a hot journey back.

No rain showing on Keswick Met Office forecast for the next week. Surely that must warrant a hosepipe ban up here 🤣

Another chilly day for August. Max just over 18 degrees and cloudy with a cool breeze. It's been a cold start to August max temp wise here.. mild minima at very start is propping it up somewhat.

Marked change anticipated coming up. Mid to high 20s by Thursday, in an average summer this would be as good as it gets. This isn't an average summer though on the heat stakes. Anyone booked this week coming up off and wanting an outdoor holiday or just some time in the garden,  outdoors relaxing and likes heat will be very happy. It's the last week of the summer that still has a high summer feel to it.. by third week, the late summer feeling sets in..

A lovely sunny and warm day here again, a high of 21.3C and a nice breeze. It's notable now how daytime temperatures are peaking a little earlier in the afternoon compared to a few weeks back, a sure sign that summer is starting to move to it's latter stages.

Yes thankfully. The sun is rapidly losing altitude now which should negate some of the heating of our houses during the day in this upcoming spell.

Been lovely today, skies a bit milky at times.  Temp peaked at 21° about 3pm, back at 20° an hour later.  A stream in a local park is silting up with barely a trickle of water, the pond looked healthy enough, it had a filtration system fitted to keep green algae at bay and to oxygenate the water for the fish.  Scenes like this in drought areas will be a different picture all together, when they finally get rain, I hope it will be quite substantial and not just a ground dampner.

Yeah still summer enough for us to reach 30-32c perhaps higher across the Midlands hot spot looks like to be across Central Southern England into the SW though - quite 1976 like.

Latest GFS temps for MCR Airport  ☀️

Monday: 24c

Tuesday: 26c

Wednesday: 29-30c

Thursday: 30c

Friday 31-32c

Saturday: 30c

Sunday: 30c

Trend has been in recent runs to extend the warmth at least into next week w/c: 15/8 so it’ll be interesting to see if that continues or a breakdown proper develops. Some decent storms would be the icing on the cake on what’s been a decent summer so far across the south of the region at least. 2 30c+ heatwaves for the NW in one summer up until recently is quite something ☀️🏖

A damp, misty start up here with low cloud covering the tops.

hopefully this is as bad as it gets though with the forecast showing an improving picture as the day goes on with temperatures into the low 20’s.

A bright start here, with around 50% cloud cover, an overnight low of 11.9C.

A cloudier start than expected (how very NW ☁️ 😜😄) hoping it breaks up as today looks like the most usable day of weather this week before the heat builds later in the week. Heat probably peaking late week into the weekend at 30-31c in the south of the region.

Yes, it was clear here earlier, but clouded over now. Very thin though and still quite bright, with hazy sun occasionally.

Clear blue, no clouds and there's alot of aircraft doing touch and goes at Newquay Airport.

Its getting rather warm in the caravan and opening the doors and windows just replaces the warmth with more warmth.

Going to Truro later as the beach is packed and parking is a mare.

In Truro,  cloudless 27°C,  much hotter than forecast.

Will be interesting what effect an additional 3 to 4 weeks further past the solstice will make in terms of when maxima peaks in the upcoming spell. I suspect earlier, more like 3pm.. than 5-6pm.

I just hope any twa*s don't start fires on the moors as it's going to be really difficult to extinguish them. There looks to be an easterly component to the wind from Thursday and this seems to aggravate the dryness and makes it worse. It'll be tinder dry in a couple of days if not already.
