Long dry spell broken.  Puddles are back.  Just measured 8.2mm for the rain which fell since early morning.  Some was sleety.  The fells are white.  Temp 3.8C.

Snowline retreated to about 650m despite no sunshine. Air not as cold as anticipated..

Don't trust the radar either, looking at it we should have been having constant light sleet past few hours - green colouring, alas we've had nothing. The cloud level is very high as well fells clearly seen.

Suspect evaporation is coming into play here. The cold air is definately digging in though, dew temps are dropping across the region but in turn, this could be making the air too dry?

Edit: started to rain which is showing signs of turning to sleet so the colder air is making its presence felt.

Met Office timing is off.  Look at the precipitation prediction on their latest forecast and compare with current radar, Should have cleared bulk northern England by 3pm

That sleet report, it was literally 30 seconds of sleet from a moderate pulse, turned back to light rain and the sun is even trying to break through.

I do suspect if the front pivots and intensifies somewhere in the UK could get an snow event. Its just really going to be pot luck.

No precipitation for much of the day despite what the radar shows.. very odd. Cold air finally undercutting now, dropped to 4.8 degrees and the snowline has dropped past hour or so.

As I type some sleety flakes are falling..

Woohoo snowing ❄️ 0.5c

only light but flakes fluttering in the breeze… lovely to see

Doesn't surprise me. It's starting to stick on the grass by the side of the M62 summit. Cold rain here 3.7C.

Sat in Tesco carpark at Glossop and I can confirm it's snowing.

Another brief downdraft which turned light rain to almost full on snow, its just ashame the front looks so weak and is due to clear.

Hopefully the showers can be part of a trough and have some organisation to them. Be interesting too see how it develops.

Finally some meaningful snow falling but very sporadic, and the front will soon be moving through, very much back edge snow. It bodes very well for overnight though if we see some heavy snow showers, will easily settle.
