28C and the blue skies are back yet again. Cloud seemingly evaporated. Gonna be a cracking sunset.

By far the warmest evening of the past week. Still 28c and not a breath of wind at 8pm. Last night we were 24c or so by now and the windows were wide open to blast the warm air out of the house with a decent breeze. No chance tonight. Lovely sat outside with a beer though 🍺

Highest temp of heatwave today. We hot 30 degrees. Also most sultry day of heatwave, humidity currently 54%. Inside temp not dropping as quickly this eve.

Skies are clouding over somewhat and convection has kicked off to our NW. Could be some homegrown convection over the fells next couple of hours. Will be keeping an eye on radar.

Tomorrow will be very unpleasant high humidity temps in mid 20s.. roll on Tuesday.

Just peaking over the pennines and you guys seem to be keeping the warmth in this evening like us East Yorkshire folk, most evenings this past week after sunset things have cooled off nicely, alas this evening the warmth remains, bit of a pig for sleeping tonight with work tomorrow, oh well a couple of cold one's on the patio it is then 😉😁👍🍺

It was the hottest day of the week today, but it's actually a degree or two cooler now than the same time on the previous two evenings. This is probably due to partial cloud cover over the past hour or two which has caused the temperature to fall quicker than the previous two evenings.

Probably not experienced a week like this here in August since 2003.

Back to now, convection kicked off big time.. I see a heavy downpour over Morecambe and Lancaster. Only a matter of time it fires up over Lake District.

It’s the sea breeze. It’s got further inland than expected destroying the convection and dropping the temp quicker.

It was expected. The GFS has been stone cold on the idea of any convective action for our region.

26c here at the moment so it’s still very warm here and only a degree cooler than the same time last night.

WRF had it only just making it this far inland but it’s got further. Tomorrow still looks alright but would be much better without that onshore wind. Hoping steep lapse rates and slack pressure will help.

Interesting to see the thunder cell expand north of Morecambe.. looks like we will just miss it.

Just had that pass to the east of here, plenty of lightning and a nice cool breeze blowing through the house. Great end to such a hot day

Died off now but did have a few close strikes. Just had a brief downpour with a strong breeze and that sultry summer's eve smell. What a great heatwave this has been and to happen mid August too, very rare!

That developed quickly. Seems to be developing further south as the evening goes on.

Lots of lightning and thunder very elevated, forks coming down but stopping at a certain height

Can hear it on the radio sounds like about 5 strikes/minute. Also strikes to the west of that in the Irish Sea unless that’s the same cell.

Most of it is not being picked up on detectors

A cloudy start, current temp 18° min last night was 16°.  Pleased for those on the coast and in the Lake District who managed to see some Thunder and lightning, kept hoping it would come further inland.  Interesting Man. Airport Taf has heavy showers and hail on their outlook later today, see what happens, fingers crossed I'll have finished work.

18z WRF was fantastic, 0Z is dreadful. I guess it’s just a nowcast situation from now on. The warmer it gets the better.
