Forecast has changed.  Met Office is going for it being wetter from late afternoon and overnight.

The chop and change every 24hrs on weather forecasts such as BBC and Meto is resounding and infuriating lol. They can't even predict 24hrs out with any reliability. I was expecting a couple of warm sunny days Friday and Saturday and now looks mostly a washout.

Yeah, as long as it's not too hot with a cooling breeze, nice to be out in the sunshine and top up the vitamin D as well.

Yes and Saturday (at the moment!) looking decent with a UV of 7 maybe a bit breezy but in shelter it will feel good. The sun more than strong enough to generate vitamin D . Tomorrow probably not so good but can't see it being dull all day. We'll see.

First day of the 4 day Jubilee fest so far has been good here. No complaints.. warm with temp nudging up to 20 degrees, bright rather than sunny. All a case of waiting to see when the rain will arrive.. radar shows a few showers have broken out ahead of the main frontal feature.. will it stay dry before beacons are lit is the question..

A wet night in store, rain should clear by late morning tomorrow..

Saturday currently looking to be the best of the 4 days here.. Sunday looks like it could deteriorate rapidly..

We shall see .

It's still dry here but BBC NW News from Blackpool coincided with the start of rain there. As Weather-history has suggested, the forecast has changed and not for the better. The Storms thread may well have plenty to discuss for later in the bank holiday weekend, but I for one hope that any appreciable rainfall stays to the south of us.

Managed the BBQ and still sat out having a beer although looking at the radar, it probably won’t be long before the rain arrives here.

A few recent lightning strikes showing up across the Eastern Lakes.

Rain has just arrived here and a wet evening and night likely to follow. A wet start looking likely tomorrow, but hopefully things will dry up for the afternoon.

Some really heavy stuff over Sunderland.  Maybe enough to extinguish the beacon

A few beers tonight after an evening out for a curry, nothing fancy just Heineken, bottled though from Amsterdam not the ones in a can that taste like washing up liquid that we brew in the UK. Not that I have ever eaten washing up liquid intentionally but it's just a saying about crap beer.

Yes a rumble or two here.. rain pelted it down for a time torrential.. eased off quickly and has been moderate but expect some heavy pulses through the night and a wet start to tomorrow.

Rain has begun to set-in here and the morning forecast isn't looking too promising with regards to my original plans today in hiking the Kinder Scout Edges, looks like it's going to be a more local walk during the afternoon but at least Saturday's more favourable weather means a dry-day to be seeing the Buxton Jubilee Spa Express *steam train* passing by.

Such an innocuous looking front is giving these parts a large deluge... not had such a single significant rainfall event in quite some time. Hefty rainfall totals.

Adverse meteorological phenomena warnings

something unusual in forecast today for menorca, well for me anyways… meteo tsunami of 1.2m expected between now and midnight… I’m guessing they’ll close the beaches? ?

A poor start to the day although pretty much as forecast.

It’s dry again at the moment and looking at the radar, the clearance should come through in the next few hours although up here, cloudy damp conditions often linger well after things should have improved.

either way though, no surprise that the only part of the country enduring rain is the good old northwest of England.

Dry here in Crewe at the moment and quite bright but with dark clouds gathering. I only hope it stays dry for the Queen's Park event today. CreweCold - are you going?

PS loved Tomasz S's red, white and blue outfit on the Beeb last night. What a guy!

Only the 3rd of June and some areas may have had more rain than they did for last June.

Why can't such systems develop in cold air in the winter to give the north west a great heavy snowfall.. never see such features in such circumstances just in the summer it seems!

Yeah and it looks like another one is due on Sunday with wet weather coming out of France deciding to practically miss the south and instead dump its heavy rain across the north midlands and the more southern parts of northern England.

if this had been winter with plenty of cold air about, the system would have not made it past Birmingham before heading out over Wales and we’d have been looking at 50 pages an hour in the mad thread.

It was a damp start to the day here, but it didn't take long for this to clear with the sun breaking through an hour or so ago with largely sunny skies now. Looking like being a decent day from here on in.

Yeah, another perfect winter scenario coming up on Sunday. The golden rule of forecasting, no Southern 'corrections' apply during the summer months. It'll be business as usual again though by the time winter arrives.
