Last day of Autumn 2022 tomorrow, main aspect has been the sustained very mild second half more especially mid Oct to mid Nov which I suspect was easily mildest such period on record. Also a very wet one here. Can't say I'll hold it fondly. whereas winter 22/23 ooh looks like starting on a far more interesting note!

Seen some posts saying no snow for January absolutely hideous.

We aren't even out of November yet.

😂

Probably same people who say no snow for December, or winter, or ever again!

The Metoffice have never been overly enthusiastic about a significant cold spell (unlike in the run up to December 2010), so perhaps we shouldn't be too surprised?!!

Icon is just a flabby horrible mess up to 144. Lows of minus 5 850's throughout the run no precipitation and to be honest no Real interest up to that point. Good job it's a weak model.

Up to 180 and its a disaster 😪 limpet low to our south pumping up 850s of +10s from north Africa. If the rest of the models look like this then this spell is truly over and will go down as one of the great slaps in the face of recent times.

BBC weather was forecasting potential cold next week so hopefully not another one of those occasions where the presenter ends up with egg on their face.

I’ve got a lot of people blocked and therefore only see posts from the posters who I know don’t go over the top or post daft one liners, and it makes for a much more pleasant reading on the thread!

Last winter I blocked more people than I have ever done.

Even if we just end up with an average winter, I reckon anther load of logs wouldn't go amiss.

I hate to say it but I dare say it’s a necessity to be able to digest any information from the model output discussion.

I was thinking today after all the coal and wood I got.

Might be just aswell put heating on for what it's cost.

The price of coal is ridiculous 🙄

Supply and demand = high prices.

The BBC have now confirmed a possible Arctic blast at the end of next week. We shall see although, in the light of recent weather warnings vs actuals, I will not be holding my breath until then! 🥶

I know what you mean, we've got a woodstove, I bought one load of logs for 70 quid back in June, and thereafter I've been out  and about in my van with a 30 inch Bow saw, and chainsaw, and picked up fallen limbs from the verges etc.

It's  been enough to keep us ticking over generally, but if there's a chance the fire will be lit most of the day, I may have to bite the bullet and get another dumpy bag full.

They did something similiar (can't remember when it was, now) with an ECM 240hr mild outlier!!! I couldn't believe it.
