What are the official figures thus far? Looks like records broken in the Scottish Borders.

There are hardly any official sites in the area so we will never know!

Ended up being quite underwhelming for Scotland in the end, nowhere near a record breaker.

I think that's down to a severe lack of official stations in the Borders.

Doncaster also showing a rounded 40C now.

Edit: such a shame we don't have good coverage in that area otherwise I'm sure a 41C would be observed in the area if it had the coverage London does.

Even if that's a suspicious anomaly... let's be honest the fact we even have to check that thought with regard to a 43C reading in England is absolutely staggering.

You know it’s a hot day when you’ve got to be at 39c to make it onto the net weather live top20!

My highly accurate weather station mounted a top a wine rack on a flat tar covered garage roof😅

Pretty hot round these parts tho:

39degC recorded in Rochester, Kent (103m ASL) - 1degC warmer than forecast

Moving car temp with no decimal places, so presumably somewhere between 38.6degC and 39.4degC

Anyone fancy a guess at how many official stations have broken past the 38.7 barrier

It is a big shame the lack of official sites as the UK record would probably have gone again somewhere in the north/Midlands.

The east is generally favoured anyway for the highest temps but it also helps that most of the air force bases/ ex bases are further south and east. More official sites in an area, the more chance of that area claiming a record.

Still another hour to go for the heat to fully peak. The record earlier could still fall. Temps in Lincs are dangerously close to smashing it.

The prime station in Scotland, Eskdalemuir is on 31.3 deg, beating their very long term record of 29.9.   As it's 800ft up, it suggests that lower level sites will be in the new record 33-34 range.  There are very few fully automatic stations in Scotland due Met Office policy, but there are a very large number of official climate sites, which take their readings once a day.  These will become known tomorrow.

What’s remarkable is just how many stations are going to beat the old record.

Topped out at 40.2c.  That's the last time I want to see 40c thanks (will be back in a few years no doubt).

Don't know where they get their info or how accurate it is but looking around some locations on Google Maps, both Huntingdon and Market Rasen are showing 41C. Must be a few more as well.
