Nowhere at 40C on xc weather now on 15:20 update. After what happened in the morning I thought we would get a lot more 40C in East Anglia and Lincolnshire but hasn't quite happened.

How hot did you get in Burton? I’m Lichfield but don’t have a station and would like to know where we got to roughly.

Unfavourable official sites is the only reason IMO. Lots of places will have exceeded 40C but unfortunately the official stations are few and far between in that region.

East Midlands Airport is our closest official station which has been at 39C for a while. Birmingham only got 37C though so conservative estimate between the two?

Balderton near Newark is showing as 42c 107f incredible heat

Whilst only being an amateur reading, this is the temperature from my back garden at 15:40 today in Balderton. The wind has picked up also, feeling like a blow torch and adding to the already astonishing feel of this heat.

Yesterday we got upto 38c here. I'm not to a degree or 2 so I'll say we've definitely hit +40c

Loads of fires broken out across east London/south Essex this is looking bad.

We not prepared in this country. There is thousands of cars stationary on the A13 and trains in east London stuck with fire approaching. Lets hope everyone is ok.

I am sitting here watching tour de France.

Surely the feed for all channels and radio should of been cut with emergency broadcast for People not to travel in these areas. People coming out of work adding to the gridlock is not the best idea.

Local variations recently in my area.(n.warks)

My nearest 2 stations are Coleshill and Coventry.

Coleshill currently 37 and Coventry back up to 38 after falling to 36 earlier.

I guess the breeze is moving pockets of slightly hotter air around.

A remarkable day that's for sure.
