Had a heavy shower about lunch time, the wind has picked up a bit, but nothing worthy of a warning yet. Is there more to come or is it a damp squib?

I’ve had regular windy days produce more interest than this ‘storm’. Total non-event this is.

Aye, great that its a non event, last Wed was much worse nothing 'named' yesterday was worse too

No, it's not named after Mrs Brown, but a more consequential Irishwoman.

Actually, I had no idea the storm names were anything other than randomly chosen.

There is quite a list of "weather responders" included this season -

Where do the name suggestions come from and who gets to name a storm? A look at the various European Storm Naming groups and the list for 2023/24 starting with Agnes.

I'm sure there are some in the affected areas who wished this was a "non-event".  Warnings are just that. They warn of possible risks. Not every warning becomes an actuality.

Hoping it blows through by tomorrow morning having a big tree taken down. Would be my luck it blows down in this storm the day before we fell it. Looks like the Midlands is only getting a sideswipe.

Exactly. I'm sure those who've had their rooves ripped off in the RoI will be overjoyed this was a "non event"

Clouds rushing by quite nicely but winds fairly low still here just a light breeze.

As for a none event the forecast was always for a none event here, for the west and across  areas to the north of us that's a different story. Top gust 22mph here. Should pick up when the winds swing to the SW but still will be nothing of note.

If the storm is still SW/w of you it hasn't really started yet.

Been blowing old boots here since the arrival and passage of Agnes's Cold front, quite an intense period of precipitation and wind, now gusting horizonal 60mph drizzle and winds probably at their peak.
Not quite as bad as anticipated (70+  mph gusts)

That's in Ireland though, warnings should be more location specific instead of just covering most of the UK. The vast majority of people in the warning areas will not have experienced damaging winds today I have no doubt about that.

Cold front clearing now which just gave a few short showers and some nice hint of colour to the sunset. The cloud clearance can be seen at the very end as it got dark.

Winds calming down now.
