Idiots in Brechin now complaining that they have lost everything as the river is in their house and now waiting to be rescued by the fire service in a boat.

After refusing to evacuate yesterday.

Putting emergency services at risk and wasting their time.

That really infuriates me, not the moaning about losing everything, although they had plenty of time to move things upstairs, unless you're in a bungalow, but actually staying when asked to evacuate. They knew this was coming. Everyone knew this was coming. Why ignore both a red warning, and the Scottish environment agency, what ever that is.

Roads have flooded across Swindon after heavy overnight rainfall as a result of Storm Babet.

50mm rain in 24h, and no weather warning? The ground is fully saturated in this area, and we've had another 35mm in a short few hours, flooding the railways for the second time in a week.

had around an inch of rain so far, but there is no warning for my area, and it looks like another inch to come or more during the day?

Yes more rain than expected here too, and I'm not convinced the next band of rain will miss the region entirely.

The issue I don't understand is that the Met Office issued a red warning on Wednesday Lunchtime ,so will have been briefing civil contingency ahead of that , and yet it took the local council 24 hours to order evacuations.

Surely in that lost 24 hours more time could have been spent not only convincing people to evacuate  but also giving them time to move valuable items upstairs.

They must have ran out of weather warnings?

63mm  for the week so far and 31mm of that overnight  according to my station. The models didn't predict the position of  overnight rain well, quite a bit further south than predicted. Probably why no warnings...or no more space on the map!

I'm now off onto Blackpool from Northampton, have delayed my journey to make the most of the dry bit up the middle.

I.ve recorded 31mms overnight added to the 25mms from Thursday night gives a total of 56mms in 36hrs in Sunny Solihull.

Its stopped for now as we are in the gap in the Midlands.

I know it's the Daily Mail, but at least it's live updates..

Storm Babet continued to wreak havoc across Britain today as the Met Office warned of a 'danger to life' amid forecasts for 70mph wind gusts and 10in (250mm) of rain.
