-1 at the moment. Hard frost on the ground. Rooftops with a shade of white on them and the sun out in all it's glory. Lovely to see. Some of the guys in the MOD Thread need to live and enjoy the moment when we have a cold spell. Worry about what tomorrow brings when it comes. 🙂

I'm sorry? What's sun?? Havent see that in days!!

Dont forget 2010 😃

And, lest we ever forget, 1947's snowy weather didn't set in until late January. . . But I'm told there's plenty of 'deep cold' waiting to pounce! :santa-emoji:

I was 7 in 62 but better memories of 67 and 69 as I had more freedom to do what we liked and could disappear for almost all day without having to report in!!

So 30000000 posts in the last 7 days and it’s been cold with a frost in most places and will get milder next week

will wait for them all to jump on the next wild goose chase (it’s hard to watch honestly)

Nice to have a chilly opening to winter, a couple of light frosts here nothing out of the ordinary before a return to double figures and rain on sunday onwards. All pretty normal really.

This cold dry spell would have been a fart in the wind in the 80s/90s

Cue social media and media hype, not forgetting calling out a 50mph wind gust as a storm then giving it a name…

You're doing better than most, average is 160m across the UK, it's a pretty good elevation i'd say, anything above 250m is very good for snow chances during colder spells.

I had the pleasure of standing in a deceptively deep frozen puddle when I was as far away from home as possible. That was a fun few hours of walking around with a wet and frozen foot. Having said that, the top layer of ice was pretty darned thick.

It's a winter wonderland around here even without a flake of snow. Top of the Mendips are white, have been all day, stunning sunset too tonight. -2c at 4pm, it's going to be a cold one tonight.

Down to -2C  already here. Possibly down to -5C tonight. Freezing fog is also forecast, so I think there's a chance of an ice day tomorrow if the freezing fog persists.

The climate has warmed substantially since the 80s though so it's no surprise that the threshold for cold spells has been lowered substantially as well. Likewise summer heatwaves in the 80s wouldn't be a big deal today - back then exceeding 30C in Leeds was a notable occasion, but now it's something that happens every year. Just how things are now.
