Large areas of blue sky now, complete transformation to the day.

A welcome clearance of the early morning rain that was torrential at times as it passed through this morning just bracing for a windy spell later tonight, weather wise of course not a Saturday night curry 😄 with winds forecast up to 60mph inland.

Ground is absolutely sodden from weeks of heavy rain through the autumn and last weeks snowmelt. We could really do with the cold, dry & frosty spell forecast for mid month just to dry things out & settle things down for a bit. Have a good weekend all whatever your plans and the weather 🎄✨😊

Pretty wet and windy in the marginals currently showing 8,5C but weirdly feels a bit warmer. Just a thought-this afternoons set up- low to the North, bit of a pressure squeeze south of the low centre with strengthening WNW or NW winds has given short lived but very strong winds in this area in the past. In a sad anorak moment a few years ago I plotted damage to older oak trees on an OS map after a set up like this, which appeared to show lines of gust damaged trees aligned in a WNW direction-gust lines/ down bursts or just a coincidence? Not sure whether the current low is deep enough to do this. [Hope not, but a bit more firewood always helps!)

Nice one scoobs, there should be a competition-storm Genghis? Although I sense this could  slide into inappropriateness very quickly.

Lashings of rain this morning, a brief respite but we never got brighter skies...and now the drizzle fest is returning off the Irish Sea.  The day pretty much put to bed before it's even started on these very short daylight hours.  If the heavy showers combine with the strong winds later this evening from Storm Elin, then indoors will definately be the place to be.

A few hours of dry weather, but the rain has now returned, wind starting to pick up a little as well.

Grim dark wet day,  Looking strangely lighter grey southwards but expecting deluge soon according to radar.  Wind picking up.

Well done dogs.  They could smell trouble.    Looks like you'll be hit first.

No reedeeming features about today's weather. This is very normal lead up to christmas weather, quite usually the low point of the year weatherwise when the atlantic rules the roost, low light, low cloud, wet and windy, oh and mild but still feels cold.

What a contrast to the last 2 Saturdays, 25 Nov brought sunshine and frost, last Saturday foot of snow.

Aye but the later we go in to Dec, the more Atlantic dominated it becomes, the period from around 20th Nov to 10th Dec, nearly always sees some form of cold

mildest period often is mid Dec to mid Jan

Horrid getting mums shopping earlier, got soaked, I count my blessings though that I still have my almost 86 year old beautiful  mum to look after.  Pockets of brighter sky trying it's best to break through now.

That's what I've been doing today getting my mum's shopping. She's 82. Obviously with her cancer now she's starting to feel not so good. She went out every day up until a couple of months ago, not like her to want to stay in. Anyway sat in Starbucks at the moment finishing off a latte. Going dark outside, horrible day.

Dog sitting for the afternoon so decided. To take him out while it was fine.

not the best plan as fine lasted about 15 minutes then drizzle became horizontal rain so it was quickly abandoned until conditions improve, knowing our look around June.

it wasn’t all depressing though as I managed to get within 20 feet or so of this lovely creature before it disappeared into the undergrowth.

plenty about locally these days but it’s still nice to spot one.
