Heavy prolonged showers here so with blustery winds.

Found this for a bit of nostalgia..

It's remarkable, isn't it. Is this what 'winter' is these days? Much warmer, much wetter, and stormy? Awful stuff. Repairing rooves and fences costs more than paying central heating bills... 🙄

Yep, some stormy weather around in the last 24 hrs.

Although it has now turned a bit less mild in the last couple of hours.

This morning (and this pm so far) was very showery with the occasional heavy burst.

Today's total so far is 8.6mms and my monthly total now exceeds 100 mms yet again during this year,  at 102.9mms.

The water table level starting to get vey high., and we can expect flooding if we do not get a break soon.

We need some snow and ice to avoid flooding.!!😁

Lovely moon on show tonight! We hear a lot about the sun (understandably), but it also feels like a rare treat to have a clear night sky this winter, too. A few clouds drifting over as I type, but it's nice to see the moon.

Sorry I’ve been busy with TV footie, I know you submitted your post 30mins ago,  but I’ve just look out of my window and there’s full cloud cover….I can’t see bugger all now…..oh! well plenty of time for clear northerly’s skies this Winter to come 🥶

Oh no, apologies if I raised your hopes! Clouds drifting across, but I can see a (hazy!) moon overhead atm...I'm in Olton btw.

And yes, here's hoping for a pattern change in January! December has been more or less of a bust from a winter/ coldie perspective. As ever, I live in hope...!

better than some though, very good fall here 6cms or so 2nd into 3rd

Fair point, but it was very variable. IMBY, if you had gone to bed at, say, midnight and awoken at 0830hrs after a Sunday lie-in...you wouldn't have known that it had snowed. Anyway...some seasonal forecasts were for a gusty/ stormy December and then a more seasonal January and February, so here's hoping. Snow is my first preference, but I'll happily accept clear, cold and sunny as second prize! ☺️

It’s back out now….I may even start howling 🤪

But yes…hopefully pattern changes are coming…..it’s all about patience 😇😉

ha ha, you literally made me laugh out loud with that one...'hairs on the palm of the hands' etc...!

I've been in the West Midlands since 2000 now, and when we first moved here we got lots of snow in the winters, it felt. Locals said that as we were so inland (for the UK) we got pretty good cold and heat (by English standards). It does seem as though it snows less these days - or to be more accurate, less frequently but perhaps more intensely? - but we have had some memorable snow events over the years. And we definitely get better (ie cooler) winter weather than London, which is where I'm from originally...

Showers have made it here it seems, but was a little surprised how quick surfaces have dried up before it arrived, I guess the slightly lower humdity is helping. Looks to be shortlived though as the rain is beginning to stop.

Tomorrow evening looks a bit lively with this line convection moving through the area.
