GFS 12Z is amazing for next Wed, great for whole Midlands, very deep FI though, I mean the low might not even exist, but if it does it will be more south than modelled, so N of region missing out

Just popped down to the shop and it was snowing lightly! Not amounting to anything but it's nice to see. I wasn't expecting anything here from today, so i'll take a few flurries 😂

Small flakes of snow here blowing about in a strengthening easterly wind.Nothing much but better than nothing I guess!🤣

Snowing again here. Moderate snizzle i'd call it. It's light but heavy enough to look like fine dust blowing under the street light 😁 doesn't look like it will last long though.

Nothing going on here in N Worcs. Cold and cloudy, but no snow or even rain to report.

And it's over 😂 radar now bone dry for the Midlands. All eyes on next week now. I really hope we see something decent.

Eyes on next week. High risk, high reward scenario. In addition to Atlantic lows ‘bumping’ into cold air, we may also see small disturbances in the north to north west flow.

18Z probably closer to the result, than the 12Z, takes the low into France, I'm not a fan of 'the further south the low, the better it is) I'm a high risk reward snow fan

No one up yet this morning?

A beautiful day at the moment, but with the temp still below freezing -0.5C and a stiff wind it feels like the Baltic has arrived.

Oh wait a minute it has!

My pond has  surface level ice this morning. Wasn't expecting that just yet.

Looks like a coldish frosty, DRY, week , before the colder air reaches us at the weekend.

After that...

Could be a major blizzard, could be rain, could be a snow to rain to snow...... its up in the air.

This winter is more like the good old fashioned 60 - 80's I remember of old!

Long may it continue for you guys. These totally Atlantic driven days are really so boring.

MIA

Yep, I'm definitely with you on that, MIA! And the car about half an hour ago said 0c...lovely to see, especially with the sun out. A lesser spotted traditional winter's day...!

Hope this upcomming cold period does not all fall apart it has been enjoyable reading the mod thread these last few weeks.

Despite having been on here lurking for years It is very hard trying to understand the models myself to be able to post anything in that thread and not get ripped to shreds.

Also having seen the twists and turns in the past even down to 1 day out where it all falls apart and the toys go flying I won't be getting excited until I see the snow falling and my flooded garden become an Ice rink.

Won't be buying the skates just yet..

As a relative newbie, I couldn't agree more!

Someone posted on the highlights thread about ignoring posts from the worst offenders. Problem is I'd have to then remember all their names as opposed to skipping over them. And just reading the highlights thread is rather technical and sometimes... a little boring?! I need a bit of ramping!

There's a definite need for a thread lead by the (cheerfully) experienced to educate the newbies with current model runs.

Anyone know of any videos or (even better!) podcasts that talk though model runs? Gav's weather vids on YouTube is ok, but he talks faster than anyone I've ever met and the learning from it is limited. Any others?

For what little it's worth, I like this little corner though. Keep it positive everyone... and thank you!

Looking at this mornings 06z GEFS themed spread for snow potential’s next week is looking good, but the control 12z atm is 👎👎👎

But I’ll wait to see if it’s an outlier as it’s still rolling out, I will say all the models are certainly not agreeing with each other right now and in my eyes its all eyes down and very interesting for all us coldies  😉🤗
