If I could rank all the Springs I remember well... 2009 and 2023 I was away for a good portion of May...

Can’t wait for the April 2012 repeat to start next week 🤩 Only this time we haven’t had a March 2012 before it so double the fun 🤩🤩 Anyone for a May 2021 repeat straight after? 🤗😜

TheOgre Even that might be preferable to the April 2012 being followed by a repeat of summer 2012!

At least some folk in the south west have had fun today, although not all I'm sure!

5 out of the last 6 months here have had more than 100mm of rain.  Just ticked over 100mm for March.

I know some won't agree with me but I'm starting to get that lingering feeling that we'll end up sleepwalking into the hottest and driest summer on record because we'll be too complacent to see it coming.

Broke my March record for rain. 146mm. My high wind gust record for March went as well. 52mph. 👻

Last night was ridiculous. My wife, son and the other kids training at Bedford track had to come in due to a thunderstorm. I had to hide under the ring road in Luton as the squall line came through.

Wish I’d recorded it. Like a watered down version of folk hiding from a passing tornado in the states LOL.

The models are real rough for the first 10 days, you've got at least 3-4 fairly significant lows and a fee other weak features.

On top of already sodden land suggests pretty high risk of flooding in places probe to it. The only slight benefit is stronger evaporation vs mid winter, but that's not going to overcome already waterlogged grounds and daily rainfall.

Hopefully there is a pot of gold waiting beyond this string of lows.

raz.org.rain I hope it's not exceptionally hot, but a month or two virtually devoid of rain would be absolutely welcome!

I don’t care, I just every day from now until mid October to be dry, sunny and as far above average as is possible. It’s just miserable.

Should I say the only silver lining about he first few days of April is that the winds will be Easterly rather than the dreadful Southwesterly. We might get a surprise early-June 2023 style spell for April

I've been a member on here for over 10 years. I've started noticing more low pressure activity back end of winter, I've got no proof or data it's just my personal observation.

damianslaw Well... here's the top 10 wettest springs on UK record and the summers that followed in % of rainfall and temperature anomaly to avg (against 91-20). These are for the UK as a whole.

1979 85%, -1.1C below avg

1947 68%, +0.7C above avg (9th warmest)

1986 93%, -1.4C below avg

1913 55% (5th driest), -1.2C below avg

1920 99%, -1.8C below avg (10th coldest)

1967 84%, -0.7C below avg

1983 50% (4th driest), +0.7C above avg (12th warmest)

1981 71%, -0.9C below avg

2006 74%, +1.2C above avg (2nd warmest)

1994 79%, -0.2C below avg

I think you are able to tell the best summers from the years alone though regardless of the data. I don't see much in it to be honest and all the cooler than average summers are from a significantly different time.
