For God's sake! The snow goes off and people are talking about it being the end! Look at any of the links people have posted up and you will see that it clearly isn't the end. There is far more to come than this. This is only the beginning of the front.

Imo most people will be very satisfied with the remainder of the front coming in later on. I think this will be the main event. The fact the temps and dewpoints will have further dropped and there will already be some lying snow points towards favourable conditions!

Nah, today has won hands down! Wednesday at least looked white for about 10 mins :-)

We had so much 'no on Wednesday I honestly though I was going to be 'noed out my house. At least I'm in doors this time around.

hope so!!!

the stuff you've had is approaching here very slowly but should arrive soonish

the heavy stuff looks like it will come later though and this is what the gfs run is suggesting

the warning for us is actually for icy roads

how pathetic!!

Snow has turned very light here. Should start snowing again in Irvine etc soon, also a heavier bit just to the West of Arran

Well that's what I'm hoping for anyway. The heavier stuff would be much better coming later as it is more likely to stick on the ground.

Of all the front we've ever had from the Atlantic how come we had to get this pathetic example...

Probably because the main sector of the front hasn't even come close to arriving yet! Have patience :)

T continuing to fall and getting faster. 0.7 C, DP = -2.9. Just need some ppn now!

Could probably climb a tree and see it in the distance.

WhiteXmas - I don't want to sound like a killjoy - but where exactly is this 'heavy stuff' - there's nothing on the radar to get excited about?

You mean the streamers will be more "effective" than a huge front colliding with a cold air mass? Hope you're right, but I ain't so sure.

Can't remember the link there shuggee but the satellite image showed quite a beefy amount of cloud rolling in later with streamers forming behind the front. I don't know whether these cloud will carry a lot of ppn but we shall see.

I think the phrase I've been struggling for is 'fizzling out'.

Will have a look in a mo at the overnight forecasts - hopefully will re-ignite my interest :)

That's only ppn though atm Shuggee. There is a big mass of cloud from Ireland to the mainland. Showers could therefore intensify as the front goes over the Irish sea. The radar doesn't pick up on this.
