Why are the sleet reports coming from south of the river? Are they at the back edge of a warm sector?

It's nothing significant, the majority was rain just one or two flakes in the heavier downpours between 4 and 4.30pm. Had 15.0mm of rain so far today, that's a lot for this location (at 35m ASL)! :)

Temp here is 3.6C and dewpoint 2.8C

Looking at xcweather temps/Dew are around 4/3 in Kent. However Biggin is returning 1/0 so I'd be interested to hear reports from there. Where's Charlton North Downs....? :D

It rained here last night, its rained here for most of the day and its going to rain all night and into tomorrow morning. Oh joy! :D

Unfortunately we have the age old problem of the radar being useless over East Anglia and not picking up all of the rain due to poor radar coverage.

How are we determining sleet???

Windscreens, or lamposts??

Awaiting the report from Charlton North Downs VVV- Snow in biggin hill??

S

North Downs on the Surrey/ Hampshire border. With a temp of 1.5*C we are still only seeing rain.

Still lots of snow on the ground though from Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays' snowfall. Temp has not moved since 4 O clock...

No sign of sleet here in St. Ives Cambs, Temp currently at 3C dewpoint also 3C with rain, unless we get some serous cold air here i can't see anything but rain. Its very interesting that the sleet is showing up further South and West of here, looks like the North sea is doing it's warming bit. The other interesting thing is that we have virtually calm conditions also. Anybody know what's happening??.

still rain here. UKMO is awful, spolier shortwave near iceland. lets hope it hasnt picked a new trend.

Rain here too. Thanks to Nimbostratus for Bucks update, hope you get what weather you want tonight in Milton Keynes. And splodging what a perfect term for that magic moment when rain turns to something more interesting more interesting on car wind screens !

Have you seen that radar...... its bright red echo over faversham and well its been quite heavy rain and probably why its sleeting..... having brought colder air down from above with it..... evaporative cooling?

that bright echo seems to be a line of heavier precip, which also ties-in with the sleet i saw around 4-4.30pm as it moved north :D

Prospects look better for the likes of East Anglia now according to the latest BBC forecast, seemed to push the bulk of the snow risk much further SE than previous forecasts.

Also, Isobel Lang was a bit more specific in her 5pm forecast and outlined these areas as most at risk snow wise:

"Mainly areas north of London through the northern home counties, across the Midlands, around Beds/Herts/Bucks, probably Oxfordshire across to Bristol and down to Somerset."

The BBC snow forcast has changed AGAIN for EA, i think its a case of one minute it's snowing then the next it's back to rain etc - Norwich is now forcast to have snow tonight.

Me thinks it's all down to ppn, if you get the heavy stuff it will snow, if it's light - rain is on the cards.

Yeah, the snow is holding on fairly well. Less so in my back yard, but still impressive considering all the rain today.

Not heard about a power cut??
