We've just had a wonderful blizzard here in Hartlepool for about 20 mins :yahoo:

Not sure what awaits me in Teesdale when I get home but with 12 inches of lying snow where I live anymore would be amazin!!

Looks like the first of the heavier showers about to hit here in about 10 mins, CB towers all over to the Northeast of me now

The showers appear to be ganging up and clumping together a bit more now offshore. The gap that was between those to the North and those to the South seems to be filling in, looking good for Tyne and Wear, as I thought.

big heavy shower heading into Tyne and wear in the next quarter hour or so, following on from this will be a quite spell for an hour or two then more showers possibly making in roads... this big shower could give 30-45 minutes of moderate to heavy snow due to how slow its moving...

Cloud building to the NE from here as well. Surely this cant be yet another let down.

Its looking very promising, although shouldnt complain with the 10 inches already on the ground!

Has been quite uneventful here in T&W but this was forecast as the big meaty showers are progged to start this afternoon with the first one just making landfall as i type. Could be a deep low short rumble or two outta this...

i work near the Echo office and i can see a huge build of cloud to the NNE. Its strange though as the clouds seem to be moving from the North

ah right. yeah, some good sledging around the valley, lots of hills! :)

edit: snow stopping here.

edit 2: stopped. added approximatly 0.5cm... so pretty light.

I keep saying it, but it does look like the north sea may deliver later on this evening. Heres still hoping.

Nowt here. Cloudy and -0.4º.

-2.8ºC here fresh NE wind causing some drifting.

Like you this spell hasn't too great for here. The Northern parts of the N Pennines have had much more snow than Teesdale. Just appears to have missed here so often in last 2 weeks.

Not convienced these shrs will make to much of an inroad west because the front to the South is so slow moving.

-2.7 here and judging by the sky any minute now should start.

If look north (ITN now agreeing) are right it could be a massive event!

Some excellent lapse rates and decent CAPE for the North East especially Northumberland, if that band of cloud (stalling weather front) stretching from the Humber over through Wales was a little further southwest then the chances of thundersnow south of the tyne would be better as i think the upper sheet of cloud is chopping away at those beasts coming in off the sea.
