Think they get just as excited about things as we do and gabble their words - looks like all the meto local forecasters jobs might be on the line if it's true about the bbc looking for another main forecaster because of all the mistakes they've made recently!

It would seem that the chances of a renewed cold spell are increasing by the day.

Good good, lets hope that the news just gets better and better.

I want to see -12 in Swansea before this winter is out!!!

I shall be travelling around the east wales areas and higher grounds tomorrow with work, and hopefully i shall see what may be a practice for the main event starting sunday/monday.

A winter warning tomorrow to say " You have had cold, then i dis appeared for a while, tomorrow i shall give you one last practice run , before you have cold like you never seen before!".

Jan25th - March 10th 2010----- Coldest spell since records began in Wales.

Swansea Bay frozen solid, average daytime temperatures of -8 on the coasts / - 12 inland, persistant snowfall for weeks on end , sky news reporters trapped up in the valleys for 5 weeks.

Come on !

Just looked at the met warning and we have been taken off, looks like rain for the south, but i thought temps were a bit to high for snow. I still have a feeling feb could be a good month!!

They said something on forecast about rain bringing the freezing point down, so we may get rain and then snow and then possibly rain ?

Think it's gonna be rain then snow - especially east wales - as the biting easterly winds tuck in to the rain

Volvo's doing brill - might have a slow puncture on the front passenger's side though but she's coping well otherwise - waiting for her next test in the snow! - Should be tomorrow I reckon - couple of cms I reckon - then back in the main freezer over the weekend - no particular warnings of snow for then yet but it tends to materialise very quickly from nowhere - so we wait for it to firm up on those details - as I said Joe B mentioned 25th Jan - don't think he's that far out, is he!

Not sure you'll have much of a problem with this front for tomorrow - possibly a few cms but may be nothing due to rain to begin with and then snow onto a wet ground - you'll be able to drive up on the main motorways which will have no probs in keeping things clear with this amount of "snow" - once you get past birmingham it'll be clear the rest of the way anyway!

Think you might have that thing called cabin fever mate (even without the snow and being holed up in a cabin) - very entertaining though!

Hi Andy, im trying not to get excited by the prospect of a prolonged cold spell starting this Sunday, but it would appear that this prospect is increasing by the day.

Its this that is keeping me on here, checking the latest model runs , reading the various discussions and trying to build some sort of picture of future events.

I have enjoyed this winter so much , been sledging on about 7 different days at least with the boy, (this is usually a maximum of 1 or even 0) , so i am happy with what we have had......BUT I WANT MORE NOW!!

Just one more night like last Tuesday, where i managed to get my hopes really low before what turned out to be a magical event.

Its always so much better when you expect the least, even when its odds on.

I think we all on here secretly hope you get trapped again Andy,as that means its a snow fest for everyone (apart from Aberaeron).

From all the signs I can read and the various rumblings around I see no reason why from between about sunday and the middle of march we will be quite "snowed under" if you forgive the pun with cold andddddddddddddddd SNOW! - this will make this winter one of the coldest and snowiest for a good few decades and as I have said before could well be the kind of winters we will get used to for the next few decades due to SOLAR MINIMA - (anyone from the government tuning in - global warming is dead or certainly fast asleep right now - but we're not even sure it began anyway - just the natural warming and cooling cycles of the earth)

I hope your right, and although it may get a bit colder from sunday, i am deliberatly down playing my own expectation, as there is nothing worse than that snow frustration when it dont happen.

As most on net weather are coldies, then it follows that every little sign / prediction / this top forecaster said this / etc etc is pounced upon , disected debated ,with the outcome getting everyones hopes up.

It would be interesting for the debate if we had an equal amount of mild seekers, just to balance things up.

However , there are tentative signs .......

My random thought for this evening is :- Gavin from autoglass will be busy next week.CRACK.

My Mrs hates him (I'm not to fond of him either) - just a bit too smug for his own good I suppose - seems the latest GFS 18z - the mild atlantic mush is trying it's hardest to fight on, on friday but you can see in the wings to the east the beast waiting to jump on top of him and stamp him out and turn everything into snow/ice!
