UK Outlook for Saturday 1 Dec 2012 to Saturday 15 Dec 2012:

As is usual, there are uncertainties in the forecast for this period. Whilst changeable conditions are considered more likely initially, some signs are beginning to emerge for more settled conditions to develop over parts of Europe. The signal is that these conditions may extend towards the UK during the first part of December. So, although there are no strong indications of any particular weather type predominating, on balance, colder and drier-than-average conditions are favoured over the recent mild and damp weather many areas have experienced.

Underwhelming really, that to me suggests a Euro / Bartlett ridging north to become a mid lattitude high but not far enough North to become a HLB, if it was Jan or feb then maybe a few grains of graupel or snow if your lucky for the Extreme SE.

I wish they would only do these weekly, the repetiviness is fast becoming tiresome.

There is a slight difference, their previous reports suggested settled conditions across much of Europe extending towards the UK at times.

Their latest report suggests settled conditions across much of the UK.

Ah, the main difference on today's output from Meto is the addition of "some wintry showers".

If there's nothing new to say then there's nothing new to say. However, to start each update with 'As is usual, there are uncertainties in the forecast for this period' does seems un-necessarily repetitive and appears to be more about bottom covering than anything else..

I like the fact the "Wintery showers" is now "snow".

That's a positive IMO.

This is the update we have been waiting for, perhaps Shedhead will be more convinced of an imminent cold spell now then.smiliz19.gif

How can anyone suggest that MetO is ramping? It seems to me, that are merely telling it how it is. If they were saying what they are whilst all the models pointed towards an upcoming 'blowtorch' then, yes, they would indeed be ramping...

From the Met that is a case of cautious optimism
