Lots of heavy showers here this morning, I thought the forecast was to be dry when I looked yesterday. Another area of heavy rain approaching here from the south-west now.

I'm getting involved in a BBQ event tomorrow so I would actually be better off having storms today (you can't win can you?) but that said I'd be more than happy to have a day of sun and thundery showers tomorrow with a 1-2 hour sunny interval sometime in the afternoon/evening to place the barbeque in.

Evidently a tornado has been reported in Brighton today. Waiting for local news pics (and reportedly) a video to come in. Any one else heard anything?

arghh what i'd do to see a tornado! i'm only about half an hour west along the coast and i swear it's always brighton getting the storms and exciting weather...

edit:

found a video, not as impressive as the 2006 brighton tornado videos. Edited by Dan123

We have three samples of media coverage - two say tornado and one says mini-tornado....bless them!

Were it not for the video, I'd have said it was arguably the dullest piece of scud ever photographed. As it stands, probably the dullest funnel cloud ever captured.

Not only was it a Funnel Cloud and not a tornado, but had it been off the coast and making contact with the surface it

would have been a Waterspout, which would similarly have been misreported!

Thanks for sharing the video though, good to see.

A much different day today with far less showers but also far less sunshine. Since mid-morning my town has been on the Northern

edge of the line of showers stretching from Cornwall right across to Essex/Kent. As a result it's mostly cloudy with occasional

light showers and clearer a few miles to the North.

Even though it was a small funnel cloud, what I would give to have weather like that in suffolk at the moment. Very drizzley with sunshine! My hayfever is absolutely awful in this weather too :wallbash:

East Wales, Midlands and East Anglia look particularly good tomorrow. Should be a good day of downpours at least hopefully. :)

NAE and Meto consequently arent keen on many heavy showers tomorrow no more. NAE is just light precip now which contrasts to the GFS and NMM etc. Will be interesting to see whos right. Often the NAE has backed down last minute I have noticed recently.

Looks like they're getting more stringent with this- in the past they just disabled the sound!
