qwdghwajfbhjqfaj!!!! lol I'm really excited.

Probably because I haven't seen substantial lying snow since December.

I'm probably been really IMBY at this point but the streamer looks like it could hit here.

in the last half hour the snow is really really going for it we now have at least an inch and a half on top of car and huge fat flakes coming down...can't believe how quickly it has changed to heavy snow!

Wow I'm shocked.

Although looking at the radar it seems you are in the firing line.

There is no real Humber streamer but there is one below it and it looks like north of Peterborough will have a good night (Wash is it called?).

Snow machine has certainly been switched on with convection firing.

Will be needing a report from York around 1.30.

Looking at the radar sequence it looks as though it could get as far as here as well.

good luck to you all tonight , lost count of the amount of posts in the model thread over the last few days saying that the pressure would be to high for any convection lol

To be fair the atmosphere has been very stabalised until tonight although the radar seems to be lighting up now!!

Well in theory it is. But there have been times when convection has occurred under high pressure, just not this high!

North York Moors could get battered by this.

Looking at the radar although the precipitation orientation is NE, the movement is ENE.

Almost at York now and that Wash streamer is really getting going.

On the face of it there looks to be little reason for the convection, indeed pressure is 1039hPa and we're in a small col:

However look a little deeper and you can see a small feature higher up in the atmosphere with an accompanying increase in humidity:

The model itself makes little of this feature, but it seems to be providing the environment for convection very nicely.

Evening again clee_snow, fingers crossed for some more this evening, still a bit thin on the ground here for my liking xD

Immingham looks it could be fairing better.

Is this feature forecast to persist.

The NMM has it slowly moving SSW but weakening as it mixes with the drier air all the time. It's gone by 9am when activity transfers further south to the wash area.

Anyone have any ideas what will happen to that long shower pointing towards the North York Moors, will this die a slow death out to sea or possibly head inland?

problem is with most of these streamers, us that they can't be predicted, once they happen it is hey dude, and the models don't show it, quite often, you have to go to sat pics and raifall charts to see what might come. The models are not gospel when the eastern highs are in the control zone
