Do you think it will snow in the top left hand side of my garden? Just it has a bit of shelter from the sun there!

:rofl::doh:

A Question about that low i have seen off the se (front) on the models,

if this forms some convective showers, as has been suggested, with the temp difference quite large and humidty so low

are we likely to see any thunder snow?

or a better way of putting my question, what kind of condition form thunder snow?

Jon

Right now we cant say for sure, but maybe the right hand side may be in a better position. More runs needed!

After all the excitement this morning and now the warnings from the met office, I have a horrible gut feeling that this 'event' is going to amount to very little. I sincerely hope I am wrong and many of us get a good pasting, but my instinct is that the weather is so unstable at the moment, anything could happen, but knowing good ol' britain, we will probably end up getting lots of cold rain.

Also it's gone very quiet on the models thread. Do they know someone we don't?

Why do you say that? This is the best possibility of something really quite good for a while. Stay calm and keep hoping for snow!!!!!

Interestingly, we had a weather warning on the Command and Control Systems at work earlier for disruption from snow later this evening...can only imagine we get that info from the Met Office...still not certain that lump of precip will stay on course or maintain its current intensity.

Good news so far on the NAE model. showing for Midnight Friday the atlantic rain band is relatively in the same place (maybe a touch further West) than last update and the North sea snow band is slighly closer to the SE coast :)

Could go either way at the weekend. Personally, I'm hoping for 25cm like we had in Bristol in the last Altantic breakdown (Jan 13th 2010). Too optimistic maybe..

A super winters day here in Canterbury. The temperature only just rose above freezing and now back below. Biting cold wind too!

Looking forward to some fun hopefully in the coming days!
