If possible can somone explain the charts this evening because i am confused

is the atlantic crashing through?

will it rain/or snow?

will it be cold/cool

Why am i confused?because the MOD is so controdicting

1 minute everyone exstatic, next minute all doom and gloom

HI, The models are looking fantastic tonight for cold/snow, we just need the ECM on board with the ukmet and gfs.

Just wondering if there is anyone who knows how bad it is in Northallerton? My girl friend is a nurse at the friarage and needs to be in for 8 tonight. We live in osmotherley and from what I can gather it isn't really going to be a sensible trip to try and make unless its absolutely necessary.

The rain has been relentless all day and now it has intensified with strong Nor'easterly winds gusting around 25-30mph. Rain gauge is reading 26.4mm since midnight and if this keeps up I'm sure we'll have over 30mm by tomorrow morning.

Now coming up to 24 hrs of constant rain!

The NAE has it petering out by tomorrow morning, but i'm not convinced going by latest radar.

Front finally moving east on radar as the low is clearing the coast.

Interesting that the models suggest the potential for a snow event next Sunday especially if we can get the front occluding faster.

Still raining on and off, 'event total' since the 24th has passed 80mm but it has been less heavy today so far with 10mm since midnight.

Gusty NE wind becoming a feature.

Finally the rain has stopped!! It's a very dark morning with a lot of residual cloud but I can see the clearer skies slowly making there way down from the north, so I should be expecting some sunshine to break through in the next hour or so. Another chilly start 4.8c atm, looking forward to some chilly night and crisp days :D

Stopped raining here in Liverpool, the ground is saturated and there are local bits of flooding although we have not had it as bad as the rest of the country. Currently 6.6c, not as cold as I thought it would be this morning

Well I think I will take that GFS run from a personal point of view, I am heading up to the North of the Peak District for 4 days from Sunday morning to do some walking so should see a fair bit of snow, long way off yet though with the way things keep changing!

the flood waters might turn to ice soon especially end of this week. no doubt we going to have a snow crisis in couple of weeks time. maybe a foot of snow in some places like the the winter of 2010-11. The gulf stream is indeed slowing down, that is what caused the bad weather in the first place.

Survived the wind and rain virtually unscathed up here. Looking at the various forcasts it looks like we are in for a chilly couple of weeks, just to get me in the christmas spirit, bah humbug :)

That would be nice some wintry stuff

Should be some snow in the heavier showers. If this comes off I should think it'll be more of a wintry mix. It'll be the east which gets all of the fun and games thereafter, as usual really.
