I'm not knowledgeable enough to shed any light on why this has happened- hopefully one of the more experienced members will be able to offer an explanation within this thread shortly...

Seems to be stalling over you chaps

That's the block I believe...?

surprise snowfall is the best--- look out the window expecting sun & see snowfalling-

enjoy- could be a covering from it!

S

Steve,

Could you offer a brief theory on how this developed?

Thanks,

Polar Low

Nae seems to offer roughly the same for this area as the 6z. Id guess roughly averaging 8mm over 6-9hours. Of course if the snow ratio is slightly better than your usual 1mm = 1cm then 10cms definately plausible.

Where in LE3 do you live again mate? I ride over Western Park daily when I go work and there's still plenty of snow on it! Sadly most of the roads and pavements have none left though sad.png

Leicester Forest East, still have a decent covering we are at 104m asl so a little extra height and a little bit colder than the city.

I think we have sone convergence-going on- a clash of air masses & some lift

just enough to develop some convection along that line....

Cheers Steve, much appreciated.

Added little bonus being that "that line" is my back garden. wink.png

NAE 12z looks broadly the same to me, perhaps ever so slightly worse, but nothing out of the bounds of random changes that will make a tangible difference.

Aaaaaaand it's gone. According to Netweather radar atleast. Though it looks more like radar has gone wrong.

Bit of Dandruff appearing now at the uni, wedged between the band currently over Birmingham and the phantom band that's appeared.
