Sorry to seem like a party pooper, but won't the rain that comes before the snow tomorrow mean nothing will settle anyway?

Not if the snow is heavy enough.

Not necessarily, but It would have to be very heavy snow. However the marginal temps would melt it by the morning anyway

According to nae its all snow for kent..... But rain to snow should settle if heavy enough where it does start as rain! Lovely suprise this morning to see upgrades for this part of the world! Hoping it does come off..... Nae and a few other models have dew points -1to-3c through tomorrow! Yey.....

and surface temps cold enough, wet surface won't stop it settling unless temps marginal, then it's called sleet

Looks pretty boring, hardly anything on that map to get excited about even the people under those white blobs!

I wouldn't go by those NAE charts at present, I've seen so many permutations it's unbelievable! as we're getting nearer to the 'event' it seems that the LP is sinking further south any more corrections and it will be just the southern and central parts get ppn. Models are really struggling.

Another request to those of you in the 2nd Round of the London/S.E.Snow Depth Cup who havn't P.M'd me, posted their altitude or put it in their profile, could you please let me have it by midday tomorrow. I need to calculate your handicap, based on your altitude, to balance the matches up a bit but unfortunately there's not a lot I can do about snowfall distrubution/windflow. I just hope that you all get a fair crack of the whip.

At work today and tomorrow and wont have a lot of time before HOPEFULLY our next snow event arrives, some time tomorrow. I'll review the situation tonight when I get in fro work but I wont be on the forum until around 11 or so.

You can calculate your altitude by following the link below.

http://www.daftlogic...nd-altitude.htm

Simply type in your postcode in the search box provided and your altitude will appear at the bottom of the map. If you dont let me have your altitude by midday tomorrow I will try and work it out myself but would appreciate your help, if possible.

Below is the Handicap System I'm using, the higher your altitude is, the greater the amount that wil be deducted from your final depth.

0 - 60 metres (Scratch) in other words no h/cap.

61 - 120 metres (-1.5 cms)

121 - 180 metres (-3 cms)

181 - 250 metres (-4.5 cms).

Those of you that have posted/P.M'd and let me have their altitude many thanks! I've also received P.M.s regarding inclusion into the competition, tbh it's a bit too late for that but I'm willing to arrange a few friendly match-ups. As I was knocked out in the last round I'd be pleased to take you on Snow Raven!

If any others want to have a friendly could you find a member fairly close by and I'll be in touch later tonight.

Meanwhile the draw for 2nd Round again:

I'll have a look at our snow prospects tonight when I get in from work and come to a decision on when final snow-depths need to be measured, at the moment, possibly Tuesday sometime but I'll confirm that later today.

Regards,

Tom.

Been a drizzly old day here so far, although it's trying very hard to snow, more and more in the mix (an 'awkward mix'). Keeping an eye on things regarding tomorrow, however, it certainly is like being on a roller coaster and at times, I feel like I want to get off unsure.png . Enjoy the ride ladies and gentlemen and hope we get a bit of a surprise (and yes, you've guessed it, off to do yet another snow dance, almost perfected it good.gif )

I can't even get excited over the possibility of a few cms of snow when parts of NE US have close to a meter of snow.

Then you better go move there. We are an island beside a huge ocean on the end of a Gulf Stream!!

A few cm's of snow is all your going to get!

Ps... I saw a the same anount of snow when I went to Helsinki last year - over a foot in 7 hours! People don't realise that European cities can and mostly do, do better than the NE of America!

The US storm is a once in a 100 years event..

I think you will find its not Surrey. The snow depths in the Boston area at the moment are just below those of 2005 and 1978 according to all the news reports Iv'e been watching. Still an impressive storm though !!
