Distant rumbles in Thanet at the moment, if the storms were just slightly further West then it would get interesting.

Looks like those storms are moving East and they've just clipped us. :( Ah, well.....maybe later, folks. Never give up hope.

Morning all

16.4c in Reigate, dewpoint 15.8c, humidity 96%, rained before 6:30 am but no thunder here. Yet.

Torn between wanting to have some storms and wanting the cricket to go ahead!

I think they may peel off into the North Sea clipping Kent and won't get too far North on land K Posted Image

Drove through some rain on the way to work across SW London, but brightening up nicely in last hour, temperature of 17C already here at Heathrow and dew point of 15C - gonna be a very warm and sticky one. Lets hope this energy can be released into some storms later!

As usual, dull and grey here. The only difference is it's quite warm at 16C :D

BBC forecast this morning only really going for action in the very far SE tonight, tbh I would just like some rain!

Morning all,

The view from Meteociel at the moment. Lots of "foudre" currently being reported, over NE France.

We had a shower here, between 6 and 6.30 but the heavier cells are just clipping our extreme E.Coast and stretch back to the area around Paris, all moving NNE, with time.

Mornin each. Just heard a very distant deep rolling rumble and we have had some rain by the looks of it. Very humid and sky looks to be darkening over to the East ish.

So it looks as though anything could happen ( in the next half hour lol Posted Image )

Good luck everyone. Posted Image

Same old story eh? Oh well, lets hope those boffs who gather at the MetO can thrash out the reason why we never get any interesting weather in the UK nowadays (other than snow).

Morning all,

Hi Ali, no Thunder Strike wasnt worth a bet, he says knowingly/retrospectively! Posted Image Finished 4th actually, so ran pretty well but your each way bet would've lost. Todays topical tip, for all you thunder lovers:

12936-143 Posted Image SWEET LIGHTNING (4.25 Royal Ascot).

Really do think its asking a lot for this to win, as it has top weight, in a very competitive handicap, currently on offer at 25/1.

I, for one, hope we dont see any SWEET LIGHTNING today!

Tom.

I'm not prepared to move to France to find out though Nick. I've just animated the NW extra NMM surface CAPE charts for this afternoon, very limited coverage - what do you make of things for our region?

So let me get this straight. It is really humid, I have massive hair and the storms are going to miss me.

I did not sign up for this!

Hi Tom,

Shall we go for Gale Force Ten in the Jersey Stakes today at Ascot?

Seems appropriate, as we look like we are going for another 10 years of the same old rubbish weather apparently!!

No need, we all know where those storms are going. Into some oil rig in the north sea. To be honest by the radar there are weather enthusiasts in Holland probably just as frustrated.

Certainly be some energy building as the sun gets to work in the humid air, trouble is the cap maybe too strong to allow an parcels to rise to build storm clouds.

Will be frustrating to see this brief warm and humid spell go out with a whimper! Though recent experience, you'd think we are used to the inevitable disappointent by now.
