The bit of height is insane! Makes all the difference! Here in north leeds at 147m is 0c. Yet today has felt freezing with rain without much of a breeze. Yet just a little higher and it is white and snowing! We just needed those uppers a little colder.

I bet back in the days this would have been snow to much lower levels!

#climatechange-i will say no more on this one.

P.s. doesnt help that rain band tomorrow pushes in mid afternoon. Warmest part of the day. CANT WE JUST EVER GET A PROPER SNOW EVENT LIKE IN THE 80S 90S! WHY JUST WHY.... its so frustrating.

The gfs ukmo n ecm are way behind the met offices's models so were just playing blind imo.

We might do this winter, but the current situation (approaching storm from the west and filling over the UK) is not the set up for this kind of event.

Moderate snow here now. I don't know much it will last as temps will rise later.

And sleet now as it's getting windy and warmer air kicks in.

Well while I was writing this ppn has fully stopped.

Dry here temps rising after a dip down to 1C cold rain forecast here. However yesterdays back edge snow wasn't forecast for here either.

I'm more concerned in the current models runs for the rest of December. It looks like we'll have to wait again for January to have something wintry. Outlook looks bleak.

Horrendous conditions in Bridlington with winds gusting OVER 60mph over the last 2 hours.

This storm is WORSE than the previous one.

Stay safe everyone as its dangerous out there at present !

All quiet here sheltered from the SE wind clearance from the front approaching a gentle breeze and a max gust of 30 mph

Wild here at Bempton. Driving rain and a SE gale. Wind very gusty. Fence panel just blew in, but I manged to salvage it before it became firewood. 4 screws will hopefully hold it until I can do a more permanent repair at the weekend. Yet another odd direction for a major gale, SE, bet there will be some more trees down.

Still strong winds here, with some sharp gusts, showers on and off, might have dodge a bit of debris on way on the country lanes,

Winds gusting to 65mph.

Glad I'm not at Whitby!

About ten mile from whitby, I am a couple of mile inland rather than on the coast, yes it is windy but certainly no storm arwen ( which was crazy winds ) and nothing unusual for this time of year - not yet anyway !!

Nothing worth mentioning here!

2mm of rain only, no snow, and only a few strong gusts. Can't call it a storm in Rotherham today, just a bog standard winters day....

Some impressive winds out there on XC weather.  So far just a none de-script day here with a short spell of heavier rain in the afternoon.

Looking at the GFS early autumn returns or early spring depending on how you look at it by this weekend and looks like it will continue for a bit.

Local lanes on drive home flooded in the usual places, few branches in the road but nothing major, feels likes the wind is easing and the rain has now stopped,
