Just this week they've upgraded my road's street lights to LEDS.

First thought obviously was how much easier it's going to be a lamp post watch... they are much brighter.

Ha not much star watching when they are on. They do turn them off about midnight though.

Been a lovely morning here, sunny skies, temp nr 15c, but cloud is beginning to fil in the blue areas. Doubt we shall see snow in this area, would be nice just to have crisp frosty morning and sunny cold days, dont want the gloom dull cloudy muck back again for a while please.

Another day with the anemometer on the weather station reading zero, and the wind farm off the coast at a virtual standstill. This seems to have been the pattern (on and off) for some weeks now.

My location just a smidge too far south to see the sun today, but it seems Norfolk had some good clear spells earlier. But the one nice thing about thin cloud cover at this time of the year is the patchy, motley effect of the light coming through the differing thickness of cloud.

Sadly no sun here today; an overcast dreich day.  Top temperature of 12c at 10:25 after an overnight low of 10c at 03:30.  Currently 11c with 86% humidity.  Another low to no wind day; pattern of the last couple of weeks. Current 1mph with 2 and 10 minute averages of 1.2 and 1.1 mph - you get the picture...  Pressure 1029.8hPa steady.   The weather appears to have as much, or little energy as I do at the end of an exceptionally crazily full-on week in the land of NHS.   I keep thinking it can't get any busier and more pressured but it does, consistently just keeps on giving bless it.

Today's highlight - TFI Friday.  Am showered, ready for bed and not going to work over the weekend.  Yay!  Will be asleep in less than 3 minutes after my botty hits the sofa - now that's what I call a fun filled start to the weekend!!

Err, no rain has fallen in the last 24 hours, again.

Checking in for the season, I'm extremely sanguine about any of the white stuff this particular winter especially after February's snowfest down here!

Down at Portland Bill for some climbing and walking this weekend. Rain over night pattering on the van roof, but the cloud looks to be clearing away. Left with some stunning scenery.7C4AD1E3-99C4-4952-941D-C17EFD947F20.thumb.jpeg.434252fdddb1a10634d9fc5b02f94b2a.jpeg73DC924E-9BDB-4DFC-BF0E-DD5A1B72F91C.thumb.jpeg.1e44df0e3a2e802a20b39c0b0a0278dc.jpeg

And we're back in the cloud and gloom

It's like there is no weather. It's just so neutral.

Although judging from the hype in the MOD thread , we could see our usual 1cm of snow before November is out

I know this isn't exactly weather but we went past a light a few days ago that had a sign on it from the Kent county council saying out of order, when it was working on full brightness

evening all, well quite interesting on the ONE thread, looking promising for next week well probably 10 days tbh from tomorrow, as SNAW well best forecast that when at least 48 hrs. out from any event. Although very possible later next week into weekend but remember "possible", mind you I see the usual national media DM, Ex have kept to there true annual regime, comments off when exactly SNAW will hit with ice age depths, temps and of course we cannot forget avalanche season here for us all..my oh my ! Typical though flying to Cyprus Tuesday for 2 weeks wonder what will be the case for the return lots of output and data to view from now and so on. ill pop in im sure there will be some exciting pre posts...enjoy your weekend folks.

Lovely satellite image of the shower clouds streaming down the North Sea this morning. They're not getting very far inland before melting away. Here in my locale we're usually on the fringe of the inland penetration on a N to NE'ly (needing more of an easterly element). But looking towards the coast earlier the clouds were certainly building nicely.
