Stunning day yesterday with frost lasting all day, frozen hard this morning around -5, going to be a very slow slide down the hill in freezing misty drizzle to get to the vets in Alness

Chilly start here at 1c but zero frost, a bit cloudy and some drizzly pish around! Not been a great few days weather wise! Happy to see that Christmas is potentially looking dry and maybe sunny now instead of the drizzly, grey pish modelled earlier this week!

Hard frost overnight has left the paths in a treacherous state - Imagine a horse on roller skates, that was me first thing.

At present there's a visual treat happening on the hills to the SE. Mist appears to be flowing like waves from the top down the hills.

The photo below hasn't really captured the spectacle.

-4°c, calm, dry and pleasantly bright.

I think I've moved to the most boring village in Scotland weatherwise. If this grey muck ever lifts, I'll tell youz.

We're still at - 2.8C here and that's the high so far today. Inverurie was sat around 0C according to the car, but sub zero all the way there and back. Oh and if you haven't done your pre Xmas shop yet, go early, even starting at 9:30am Inverurie was mobbed.

-3degC at the moment. Was still -7degC at 11am. Very white with hard frost. Might be some problems later this evening with ice when the precipitation band passes over us.

Local sleet/snow expected 5pm onwards after the latest update from the Met. Yellow warning for freezing rain large parts of Scotland.

Festive with a lethal twist

Currently -1.1c and calm conditions.

Grade A+++ Aberdeenshire Permagloom™ has also returned with a vengeance., such a contrast to the clear blue skies of yesterday.

Currently sitting at 0c in Peebles. What a dull, gloomy day and absolutely raw walking into the wind. The rain started at lunchtime and it’s just got darker and darker since then.

Going to count this as an ice day as its still 0c dull and dry.Just seen  young Mr Northernlights weather app on a hay delivery showing lots of freezing rain coming into Scotland. Its going to be a nasty night with the cold well established. This might be the story of the next few weeks a battle royal between cold and warmth.

Have to be honest here and say I’m losing all hope of any meaningful cold over the next week. We might get a few days along the lines of today, but with sun, but that looks about it. The milder days are expanding and the cold days are diminishing.

Good news!

Snow event, for some, kick off 6pm. Limited time offer 60 minutes max according to the Met.

Man, or woman, those lamp posts!

Was just going to post the same from an all rain front/freezing rain to an hours snow the cold is not going to let go easily

Slight change of plan:

90% of heavy snow 1900.

Light snow from now till then.

Precipitation straight to heavy freezing rain with not a trace of sleet/snow.  Slip sliding away walking to the bin ⛸️.  Temperature rising slowly, currently at -0.1c.

Still -1.1C here, appears to be raining lightly and freezing on contact with the ground. Driveway and paths look lethal.
