yet another storm forecast for my area COMPLETELY inaccurate, last year in total we had 28 thunderstorm warnings, ZERO storms. This year 7 storm warnings, ZERO storms. Why put them out if they clearly don't know what they are talking about?

If you actually knew how to read them you wouldn't complain so much

I'm not a pro forecaster or anything, but I never thought today looked primed for much more than a few sferics here and there, I just didn't want to be seen as a kill joy!

Yeah… Time for me to throw the towel in on this one. Another bust. *sigh*

Anyway… Before I sign off, (until the next wild goose storm chase) here are the latest rainfall radar and lightning maps, in the hope that they help some other members. ??

But for now, it’s over and out from Storm Starved in North East Wales.

I’ve got the Home and Dry app as well and that did say all day we didn’t have much chance if anything of a storm. I refused to believe it. Guess I will from now on. Been 2 years since the last decent one I saw and even that was over Cheshire. Then I had to go to my in-laws in Telford the following day to see a corking one there. We used to get some amazing ones when I was a child in the 80s. Nowadays mostly a let down. Gutted I am cos I really thought it was on for today.

Some towers going up to the north of me in NW London right now...so some potential if you are say 30-40 miles north of me.

And as soon as I wrote that, they faded.

yea nothing since that storm in August 2020 you mentioned...I honestly thought today would be a great day for storms, but let down once again. Oh well. The long wait continues.

A few showers cropping up around S Cambs. It’s got a lot more still now and the sky is starting to darken. Marham still showing 25c.

Well I’m disappointed as not had a decent (even short lived) storm this year yet… but I took the Met warning for what it was - ‘unlikely’. Glad I saw that really, I can get on with my evening now!

I thought the UKV precip charts did well over the past few days..?! It never really showed a great deal.

Weak updraughts? Showers would pop up and then collapse, on the radar.

A few hours left though..

Sea breeze all but died off, which is always a good thing! I just don’t think there’s been enough oomph to sufficiently break the cap. Much of the country was shrouded with mid level muck, which has been the hinderance today. WRF still showing some mid level CAPE sticking around until 2-3AM around the fens area however.

looking at the now winds and the build up of cloud, there could be a CZ setting up to the West of Birmingham

Nice one. Let's hope it heads a little north towards cannock.

For the North but more showers (if its reaching the ground) are developing about, could cooling possibly trigger something?

I want to give up on the Met office warnings FOREVER ! Even on a storms day. The warning jinxes the storms. When no warning or sign of storms is given the seem to pop up out of nowhere ! At this point I am just waiting for the 8th of April Petebourogh suprise.

Yeah, the UKV did do well and never showed more than isolated cells. There were a fair few over-excited posts on here that left me scratching my head a bit, like people saying the Midlands was going to have it's best show in years. It never, ever looked that way to me.

Interesting sky as the rain approaches from the south.
