The heat haters club 2022

Message added by Paul,

This thread is for those who don't enjoy the heat to discuss that and offer support to each other through the summer months. If you don't feel similarly and don't have any empathy for those who do, please don't post in here.

Good morning @Tom Quintavalle. The way things are going, we might be in for our first ever 20C Christmas Day!😱

Very worrying Pete, isn't it.

To try and adapt to the heat more successfully, I've even adopted my Italian Mother's. maiden name.

I really hope this doesn't stretch on into September.

We really are beginning to acquire, a Mediterranean type climate.

Regards,

Tom. 👍 😓

Right then, I'll test my Latin (something I've never studied!) and guess that Quintavalle relates to either 5 houses or 5 valleys? I await chastisement!😊

Day has started well, our washing machine has decided to break down and we are getting it fixed (hopefully)  on friday. I'm one of these people who panic about the house being a mess/people coming in so i'm on full speed cleaning/sorting and it's awful in 26c. Not giving me the best of moods either i dare say!

I don't normally hate hot weather but the latest Met Office forecast fills me with very little hope. What was, way back in 1976 (one day at 36C in one place) a welcome treat; but what we are facing now most certainly isn't!😫

Morning again,

Have just seen the end of the 00z ECMWF run, and it's a worrying trend for us Heat Haters.

it now takes until t216 [Day 9], to disperse the heat:

image.thumb.png.d03394402ff0ea28f83e0bd6051e259c.png

Not sure I'm liking the way the heat is lurking just to the S.E, of us. Surely not another kick in the stomach, as we head into September.

Sort it out Weather Gods, that's officially a Month of the Autumn Season!!

Meanwhile, I see that humidity levels are starting to rise:

image.thumb.png.51b696c1c26bd4ade7f4c14b8717f607.png

LONDON CITY AIRPORT: Temp - 19c, Dew Point - 15c, Relative Humidity - 78%.

Thankfully, myself and 'er indoors had a reasonable night, in the black hole of Kolkata [our Bedroom].

We still needed two fans on, mind. But it started to feel a bit chilly, later in the night.

So much so, that we had to pull the Duvet cover over us. My Wife had taken out the actual Duvet, a few Days earlier.

Colette asked me if I thought she should buy a fourth [yes 4th] fan for our Bedroom but I couldn't see the point of that.

There would be no place to put it, for a start. It would probably just be circulating hot air, in a couple of night's time, plus our Electric Smart Meter, will be crying out to be fed again!!.

We're holding back the third fan, until the heat really kicks in but that could well be Tonight, if that humidity keeps on rising!1

Regards,

Tom. 👍 😓

And the breakdown for Monday has been on the agenda for a good few days has been on the agenda

And weather gods, it's Autumn from September 1st not September 22nd-Sort it out, Now and make it stick!

I just came across an astonishingly titled news article in my paper: Britons were left to swelter in 'dangerously hot' homes during July's 40C heatwave. So, what were 'they' supposed to do with us then -- stick us all in a giant fridge!😁

Dreadful.  I worked part time at the local private hospital before I fully retired.  The offices we worked in were former patient rooms.  Our windows only opened an inch at most, there was no air conditioning, they always raided our offices for fans to take to the ward and made us wear a uniform which really was winter garb as it was fully lined!    What made us smile though was out-patients on the ground floor and the ward on the third floor both had air conditioning!!   It was the heat in summer 2018 that decided me to retire fully, just about had enough.

He’ll get in and out of it and then push it around until I bring him around 7ish. Sometimes he gets bored with it and takes the umbrella stand on 🙄

Its 29.5C and too hot. The only saving grace is its a dry heat and not all humid and sticky. Finally finished work after a 30hr shift so sat at home with the fans on trying to keep cool.

Im not enjoying the prospect of the next 4 days being 32-34C here.

Im off to Grand Canary in just under 5 weeks to have a cool down 😂. I look forward to the first low pressure with some more autumnal wind and rain lol.

Just along the Severn Estuary here and dreading it too! Could not believe when some of the models suggested we'd get it about as bad as anywhere in the UK to be honest. Might genuinely end up being worse than last month was, and for longer.
