Hardly day after tomorrow stuff but I’ve just driven home in falling snow and it’s having no problem sticking, certainly on the pavements.

Aye we’ve got to pretty much go back to the east coast to see any more showers but the last lot seemed to appear from nowhere over the other side of the Pennines so maybe a few more home grown ones will show up.

Will be interesting how low we go tonight, almost -5*C last night, probably the coldest night for say 1-2 yrs.  Definitley this year.

The area of precip coming out of Newcastle should reach us 11pm-1am , a weakened version giving local dustings, 65% risk

Slow moving heavy wintry showers developing from Friday 7pm onwards producing the risk of noteworthy snowfalls locally between Manchester and 5 miles from the coast.

Been a dazzling sunny frosty day, temps not quite as cold as Man Airport, -2.6C at the moment.  Could see the stars half hour ago, but cloud now obscuring.  Eyes to the sky for a pop up flurry.

Just arrived back from New Mills and its snowed in Glossop and Hadfield.

Well, a short lived snow flurry here in sale about 10 mins ago. Settled on all surfaces unsurprisingly. Fingers crossed for another slightly heavier burst later on this eve/early hours!

That’s a fair old northwards extent of snow for a channel low and a lot more than the usual fizzle out over the north midlands.

no doubt the entire system will do what usually happens and dive southwards over France nearer the time with only the far south seeing anything though.

BBC/GFS & MO overestimating daytime temps as we head into this cold spell proper it only reached 1c here in S Cheshire and it was forecast 3-4c today so ice days certainly a possibility for many locally into the weekend and early next week it felt absolutely bitter once the sun began to set mid afternoon. Tomorrow evening as others have mentioned offers up some wintry potential - GFS has snow showers (1-2cm) so even a dusting would be great but as with all NW England snow chances I will believe it when I see it!  It's encouraging to see @Kasim Awan on board with the snow chances though as it'll be great just to see some falling and settling snow after last years one day wonder.

its our side of the Wirral's turn for the cold and frost tonight, already down to -1C, I think my dawn it will be -3 or -4C making the coldest night since 2018 no doubt.

Maybe, I can't fathom what's going on to be honest. Last night there was promise of some wintry precipitation which never came, I think the bands have been way out west, as they usually are, in a northerly. Rather interesting tonight as the seaward air fetch (NW) has not moderated temperatures like I thought it would tonight. That means it'll be very cold, and perhaps, if something does come along it will be snow. It's surprising there is very little precipitation in this low, as it stands.
