Light snow flurries here in Banbury at the moment.

Radar shows we are sandwiched between main bands of snow either side of here.

Snow bands are running parallel with the M1 and M40

One band running just north of Cheltenham and the other across Northampton Leiceser, Rugby.

Snow starting to settle here now, much more to come! Temperature falling rapidly, approaching freezing now.

Get ready for this eveing, whilst the east will get the heaviest the instablity looks easily strong enough to send the showers into this zone and in quite a big amount, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see widespread reports of an inch before the main snowfall comes up from France...

Light snow has made its way across to here already, somewhat earlier than expected.

Most of it isnt reaching the ground though, just blowing round.

Temp 1.9c

Not surprising Coner, still probably got another 6-9hrs before the main thrust of showers comes in from the east, models are suggesting this flow will be very unstable indeed, possibly a colder version of Feb 05 event where the showers packed way inland.

Still light snow blowing around here with more to come looking at the radar, a flake landed on my jumper and it was a perfect snowflake not just a clump of slush lol

Hopefully the met office thing is while they change the warning to orange for more counties.

Us on the south coast need that stream to veer more northerly - it is just not fair if it all streams to the north!

Looks like a sort of streamer has set up in the near the Wash as is quite common in these set-ups, places west of this even quite far inland as the current radar is proving could well get a fairly decent dumping of snow before the main event comes up.

Hehe that's my though too, these are proper, old fashioned snowflakes!!!! I'll try and get some pcs of them later as they are less likely to melt .

Also the snow is coming down really heavily now!!

Yeah, the only issue for us is that there may not be much south of the streamer but given how unstable the airflow is we should get some snowfall, just not as much as say a line from Essex through London, Guildford and along the M4 roughly, wouldn't be surprised to see several inches in those places, as well as places W/WSW of the Wash.

Just as I say that it starts to snow!

Yes it`s been trying for a couple of hrs and now seems to be pepping up.

It`s looking very good for more according to this

Like a large Wash streamer.
