Frost and ice have returned out - the slush on the pavement has that reassuring crackle back to it and cars on my side road are making that sound as well.

I'm sure that if we go by the models then every chance of a snow shower or two tonight - especially over Hythecold.gif

So whats happening tonight then? Snow? The GFS charts showing some pretty cold air over the south east and precipitation through the night:

I don't believe that Precip chart, the Met Office's one says no snow other than maybe few showers.

Tonights ECM hinting at a possible channel low in a weeks time - ideally would want the low literally just a fraction further south for all of us. But that far off it doesn't really matter. Something to hope keeps appearing anywaysmile.gif

Will Hand the chief forecaster at Haytor thinks the chart above is likely to materialise :help::shok:

Also, Will Hand's weather update for Dartmoor is really interesting. This will hit us too :drinks:

Did any 1 see Peter Cockroft on BBC SE he said snow on Tuesday and the models suggest this for our Region the SE? :whistling:

That's right. he first of all showed wintry showers tonight and tomorrow, then he showed heavy snow for the SE on Tuesday :yahoo:

By the way, Will Hand is really ramping up next week especially the 20th Feb and guess what, ECM 12Z is showing what Will is ramping about. I wonder......:yahoo:

Yep.. he posted this on the 9th Feb & has been firming it up ever since!

cut/paste from uk.sci.weather

Becoming increasingly confident now that after Monday the snowiest spell of

the winter is about to hit the UK with widespread lowland snow.

The benign cold spell will start to withdraw on Sunday as the high

retrogresses allowing a much colder airmass originating from sub 492 DAM air

near the pole to flood south with sub 522DAM thickness and falling pressure.

Three things will aid snow development:

1. South moving air increasing absolute vorticity forcing ascent and falling

pressure.

2. Decreasing stability forcing convection

3. Northerly jet streak propagating south from Iceland forcing mass ascent

of air on its cold side (over UK).

I have kept quiet till now wanting to see how this was likely to pan out but

now it is becoming clearer when the serious snow will arrive - from Monday

onwards for about a week. Get those snow shovels ready, nobody will be

immune, even lowland coastal SW areas.

Ciao,

Will

Is this bloke normally good? Can you see his previous forecasts? :whistling:

That's nice lol what you doing on here?

This winter he has been very good. He is not one for ramping for the sake of it, so I take his latest forecasts very seriously. Peter Cockroft has even gone all the way out to next Tuesday with heavy snow for the SE.
