Always surprises me what a few more feet ASL will do! Quite a few times recently have driven up Spitfire Way to watch rain in Folkstone turn to snow in Hawkinge!

update.. Now it's snowing! :)

Light snow here too but mostly wet/sleety. Still cold. cold.gif

It's all part of the variation in a warming trend - can't be pure snow all the timewhistling.gifwink.gif

Staying rather cold, although dry with bright or sunny spells on Monday. Tuesday sleet and snow is expected, with some accumulations possible. Wednesday outbreaks of lighter sleet or snow.

Updated: 0245 on Sat 13 Feb 2010

Better than might have been expected?

And here's Will's take on the same period... from uk.sci.weather

"I haven't changed my mind on the forecast. I have already

explained that mass ascent is to take place in cold air (forecast dewpoints

are low with sub-zero in places all around the low), that is a scenario for

a widespread snow. Thicknesses are still around 528DAM in the south mid-week

turning colder later. Light precip in the south will be rain but moderate or

heavy bursts will readily turn that to snow. From the Midlands northwards

snow is more certain and on all ground above 200m asl nationwide. What more

can I say at this stage, there are big uncertainties regarding distribution

of precip. and we will have to wait for high res. models for that."

Quite baffling realy when one considers current output, particularly GFS that show cold rain, rain, showers of rain, coldish rain and even more cold and rain showers for the forseable future.

I hope both the Met Office and also Robert, and the guy from Dartmoor know something GFS dont. :whistling:

There we have it, as expected MO backtrack yet again.

And they call themselves expects, bunch of *%*$@&*!!

One down two to go, Will and Robert. Of course Northern England night just do quite well out of this, certainly good old NE Scotland will see even more snowfall.
