Speaking of the wide vaiations in temps being reported, I'm wondering if some peoples thermometers are in a shaded spot or out in the open.

My wireless temp sender is sheltered away from wind and sun, how do other people position theirs?

Mine is currently on a 1.5m pole in the middle of the garden. I'm still experimenting with positioning. The gardens to the left and right of me are bereft of trees, but there are tall leylandii at the SW end of the garden (damn those neighbours!). So not exposed, but not sheltered either.

heaviest it's been all morning here , still very grainy but there's a lot of it , looking at the Fax charts it's going to a very close call with tomorrow's ''event'' and I'm expecting rain down along the channel coasts on Tuesday, so I'll be taking one final trip onto the hills tomorrow and get some nice pictures before it all thaws out mid week

I think the fact that the MetO have refrained from upgrading their warnings to Amber speaks volumes about the snizzly and probably less-disruptive nature of this snowfall

I don't really understand why it would be marginal? Temps here on the south coast aren't even above zero and are not progged to be all day, dew points are low enough all over our region as are the uppers.

Yes, no problems at all today through till first thing tomorrow morning - it is through Monday when the spoiler comes of higher dewpoints and temperatures unfortunately. Most especially from about Eastbourne eastwards (even more unfortunately!)

Dandruff snow for a few hours, fairly heavy to moderate, but settling well nearly an inch, which is a lot more than we got Friday in over 15 hours of snow.
