Lovely blue sky today wouldn't look out of place in Summer (except last year of course)

Another mini toppler potential at the end of this week,  all we need is some precipitation for this and we could get some more (and welcome) wet snow. Most precipitation will most likely fall before the dew points fall to their lowest for the region.

There is a key to our winter ..it's not to far fetched ..as it's within 144 (half a chance time frame ) it's starts as a little disturbance over the Azores but if and it's a long shot (but we are used to them lol )upsets the whole apple cart but it's worth watching ..sorry if your holiday is  in a week or so time in canery Isles but will it unlock our winter ..time will tell ..

Yes it's a very rapidly forming wave that's just come into the range I look to in the upper-level winds and we've got an interesting pattern forming where the rotation of this Azores wave is pushing up the Rossby wave and what that could do is that it could build heights continuously up and eventually with that Azores low there is the potential that it could be pushed either to Greenland or to Scandinavia but this is all hope casting. Right now I think that this looks like it'll flatten out and continue the current Atlantic dominance but we'll have to wait for many more runs to see what pattern seems to be  happening.

What a great winter day today; a hard frost this morning making the pitch dark early dog walk far easier, with no slippages in the disgusting slimy mud for a change.  And then sun all day - beautiful and uplifting, even though experienced vicariously through windows.  Unfortunately too busy to have a break to get outside to check the sunshine was actually real.  Out after dark this evening with my dog and feeling bitterly cold.  Currently -0.3°C with 87% humidity, following a top temp here today of 6°C at 13:56. No wind is registering.  Pressure 1019.4hPa rising slowly.

Today's weather highlight: some rare sunshine and the loss of that endless, awful heavy cloud that hasn't really enabled the days to get properly light *good-bye evil cloud, long time no return  *

Edit: Not the goodbye that was said in my head mind

Lows of -5 overnight, absolutely freezing out there. Looks like we'll get some more miserable weather this afternoon and evening with rain and low temperatures.

Can't we go back to last week when it was 13c and I didn't have to put the heating on? Absolute bliss.

You say it so much better than me mate ..but yea you get what I'm saying and I totally agree ..to the run of play it's a fly in the ointment. .just hope it stays relatively intact

Sunny morning with a good solid frost still around, -3 when I went out with dogs this morning, wonderful as they come home dry and clean. Just about 0c now, the rain thats due later can booger off, had enough of rain and cloud, more of the cold crisp sunshine is more than welcome.

Absolutely beautiful morning. Blue skies that remind me of summer, until I go outside!
Still frosty here.

Sod's law.

I hadn't left my town, South Woodham, in weeks.
Yesterday I popped into Chelmsford... and it snowed at home while I was there. I missed it.

Proper lovely from this morning though so that's something.

If there was a law of generalativity (don't quote me on that word ) sods law would always be the best bet

I don't need a thermometer to tell me how cold it is, I simply count the number of visits  by the robin and blue tit on my little windowsill feeder/camera set up.

7 visits yesterday, 34 visits today!

Also, our local fox doesn't come for his piece of buttered toast when it's colder than minus 1, I've noticed. Colder than zero and it's there untouched in the morning.
