Happy birthday!!   @Atmogenic

Today's high was 12.1°C at 11:30am after an overnight low of 8.8°C.  Currently 9.1°C with 90% humidity.  Sunny morning but brisk wind.  Clouding over early afternoon with spits and spots of fine rain totalling .2mm - hardly worth the bother, except to make dog walking along already ruined field tracks even more of a disgusting experience.  Pressure currently 1021.7hPa steady.

‘Much fresher here today after the very mild Tuesday and Wednesday.Only reached 7.6 today in Locksbottom but that was 5 down on Wednesday. As I was bored I just looked at my energy bill for December and January and you can tell it’s been a mild winter as we have used just over 20% less gas than last year which is just as well considering the price increases!!I was lucky that I fixed my prices last July and got a 2 year fixed deal only because someone advised me to do it otherwise I would have been in the pea soup with the astronomical price rises-Not looking forward to when that deal expires !!Just hope the markets may have settled down by then.

Chilly day with a max temperature here of 8.2°C at 14:30 after an overnight low of 5.1°C.  Currently 4°C with 76% humidity.  Saw the gritters out this evening and the sky is clear so expecting a frost by morning - yay hoping that will harden the muddy footpaths.  Wind mainly WNW, veering W from 6pm, highest gust 23mph but overall less windy than yesterday, certainly the weekend and currently 4mph.  Pressure 1024.3hPa rising slowly.  No rain has fallen in the last 24 hours.

Weather highlight today:  Sunshine, crisp with excellent visibility.

The vivid and dramatic sunsets I used to photograph from my upstairs 'room with a view' diminished after the first 2020 lockdown and haven't returned to their former glory.  However, happened to have my phone in pocket this afternoon.   Nothing particularly robust - more pale but interesting...

My photo memories show it was snowing this day on recent years: 2021 (good covering, lasted a few days), 2018 (a few grains only), 2017 ( reasonable cover, wet snow didn’t last more than a day or 2).

I also photographed the car 3 years ago (2019) as there was a heavy frost.

Just about squeezed out a frost this morning, low of 1.2c.

Even the Daily Express has found this winter hard going, no Snow Bombs, no Beast From The East To Destroy Britain and no Polar Vortex To Send UK To Siberia, wonder what sensationalist garbage replaced the weather headlines to try and sell their toilet paper. James Madden must be out of business by now.

Guess you've not seen this then?

THE UK is set for snow in the coming days with up to 7cm in areas, according to new map data.

With no outdoor plans I’m strangely quite looking forward to a wet and windy afternoon, doesn’t feel like we’ve had very many this “winter”. At least it’s finally some weather rather than the endless benign dross we’ve had so far this year.

Been windy on the coast but nothing out of the ordinary, a few 40 maybe 50mph gusts. Moderate rain  from about 2 o'clock and currently 10c

Exactly ..I was happy as Larry ,friends and family was like ..miserable windy wet ..they would live if possible in perpetual summer evenings if they could  ..that would send me insane ..but after these few days ..just say hi to the high again ..unless ..

The polar vortex they say  is very powerful for this time of year ..so it goes to show then  that even early and late  (winter)the temperature difference is strong and uk being the UK has copt the short straw

spring is definitely close by, seeing those spring shower cumulus in the sky being all a bit puffy but can bring a quick shower.
