That looks like it is wrapped up in clingfilm?!

I think the UK needs that right now, might offer some protection from the winds

How there isn't an amber warning out for NW England is beyond me. 60-70mph going through a densely populated area and it's a yellow?!

Yes very baffling Nick we have been discussing this on the NW Thread very Gusty at the moment along with wintry showers worst to come unfortunately going to be a long night.

Had a gust of 47mph when the squall line went through. Wasn't particularly intense the rain here on southern outskirts of London.

I think Storm Franklin could be more notable for flooding issues than wind, 2 severe flood warnings south of Manchester near Didsbury. Numerous flood warnings across the N of England.

though winds will be pretty strong and potentially damaging again for N England, N Wales and N. Ireland in the early hours as centre of Franklin moves  SE over NE Scotland.

Hi Nick

Storm Eunice gave me a max of 62.8mph Here in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

Cold front this afternoon produced a max of 52.7 mph

After a brief easing, things starting to really gust now.

Anemometer, Velo / Inspeed set up.

Some thunder about in these heavy showers, as the radar shows.

I had a single lightning followed by a thunder before dinner in Stornoway (not marked on the map unfortunately). Flash easily visible and good rumbling afterwards.

Here's it as seen by my infrasound sensor. Really evident above background noise!

The nature of squall lines always meant that it could hit one place extremely strongly and others not so much and it seems like it did just that. Wonder how this max wind gusts chart from earlier is holding up.

Interesting….Looks like the winds in Exeter after the squall like were 118kmh/72mph according to that graph, certainly felt like it

Well I had a fun drive from Whitchurch to Andover just after the squall line went through

Nearly killed by a falling tree. Came down infront of the car infront of me on the B3400 and blocked the road. Turned around and went back through hurstbourne priors and ran into another tree blocking the road so went all the way back to Whitchurch then came the back way and it’s flooded everywhere. There is debris all over the roads and a lot of standing water. Seems worse than Eunice honestly.

Crazy gusts just across the pond with that squall that went through the UK.

Oostende in Belgium recorded 81 mph and a 6.6c temperature drop within 30 minutes.

How isn't there an amber warning for S England? Eunice has weakened structures and 50-60mph+ gusts inland aswell

There isn't even a yellow warning here with 50 - 55mph forecast between midnight and 3 am.

What a nasty day of weather.  Don’t know why this came as a bit of surprise to me but I imagine I thought Eunice was the last of the stormy weather.  Yesterday was windy too, but today we’ve had stronger gales, gusting almost as violent as Eunice delivered, but accompanied by heavy, almost continuous rain.  There was a break in the rain before sunset followed by some hefty hail showers, but the wind hasn’t let up at all.  I can hear it rumbling around the roof and testing the windows and I believe it’s going to continue all night.  Lovely.  The jet stream can do one, now please.

Blowing a gale over here in Dumfries and Galloway where I am, occasional grawple showers too.   Some flooding in Dumfries too as the River Nith has burst its banks.  Hope all folk stay well and safe tonight.

Squall line just through Cromer (here on holiday) and accompanied by heavy hail and a rumble or two of thunder. Madness for 10 mins.

Just as was getting a flood warning call from the EA for back in Shrewsbury where we are heading for major flooding for the third consecutive year….

Reports of a mini Tornado in the Dereham area (South of cromer) wind was like a freight train here

Gust of 106mph between 8 and 9pm (UK time) this evening at Cap Gris Nez, a headland sticking into the Dover Straits between Boulougne-Sur-Mer and Calais, northern France as the cold front squall line went through here
